From ABC News this morning:

Former Gore campaign manager Donna Brazile tells The Note, "I don't know if this will re-shape him or allow him to move back gracefully into politics. I believe Gore wants to be above the fray and not back in the middle...With the Nobel Prize now his to claim, Gore can play kingmaker and help the Dems win the White House in 2008."

If Gore enters the race then he would be back in the political fray... Gore is now this elder statesman who is to good to be back in the name calling contest that we call the presidential race... he has a legacy to protect at this point and dealing with Iraq which is his former challenger mess will only tarnish what he's built since 2000..

I want Al Gore to stand up and unequivocably tell us that he is NOT running. No ex-campaign managers, spokepersons, Dem strategists..I want it from Mr. Gore's mouth..no cagey language. Unless and until he says yes or no, I'm not considering any other candidate. Period.

Nice try Brazile, but a very poor choice of words. Rove, and Cheney are "Kingmakers". Al Gore has more respect for the constitution than those who wish to make kings. I am starting to understand why Al Gore won the popular vote and not the election. Maybe you had something to do with it.

RIGHT ON, ohsaydidyousee. Brazile is just a cocoa version of James Carville on Valium.
She totally FUCKED his campaign in 2000.

You know sometimes I wonder do people really listen these days. Mr. Gore has said on several occasions that he is not running for President in 2008. So please media, strategist, and bloggers get a grip. The man is enjoying his life outside of politics and doing a great job.

Congrats to the former VP, G.B. take that!

Yeah. Emmy for his TV network, Oscar for the flick, now the Nobel Prize. And the media still doesn't treat him as much of a superstar as Britney. Or that other messed up rehab queen, whatshername.

If he runs, he will win, no question. And he doesn't need the campaign bucks. He already has all the status he needs.

But I don't blame him for being aloof.

I mean, when the wingnuts were camped outside of his house screaming obscenities in Decamber of 2000, where were the grassroots dems? Watching it on TV. Can't balme him at all for not running as a dem.

And the other dem with the best environmental policy record is treated as a fringe candidate. You know. The guy who was right on the Iraq War in 2002 & 2003. Right on health care. Right on NAFTA. The guy who is right on all the issues but isn't a Tom Seleck lookalike.

We will get the leaders we deserve. That's for sure.

PEACE, Y'all. and if you want peace, vote for the Peacemaker. It really is as simple as that.

Mainstream media doesn't give him as much recognition as Anna Nicole's baby, "who's your daddy". Mainstream media knows if he were a candidate, they will be exposed for their coverage during the lead up to the Iraq War. They were not supposed to be a propoganda tool. They were propoganda tools from the 2000 election. They promoted Bush and downgraded everything Gore did. They have been instrumental in getting us to the point we are today. NO RESPECT LEFT FOR AMERICA, DUE TO OUR MEDIA.

"Kingmaker" implies that he cannot endorse Hillary Clinton. What an ugly word you have used.

Agreed Gore should stay out of the fray. Why submit himself to that mess when the power elite will never let a progressive accomplish any more than they want them to. Gore can do so much more staying in his current environment.

If Gore backs HRC however, I really am done. That will show how political he REALLY is and we might as well give up if that's the best he can do.

I don't think there's a snowball's chance in Hell of that happening.
Really, I DON'T!

I guess you can produce a film that has scientific inaccuracies and still win the Nobel. All that aside, it is good for the United States.

Interesting "wet blanket" comment, but I think the Prize was for a bit more than just a movie he was involved with.

The Nobel was for bringing global warming into the global consciousness, not for making the film. That's what the Oscar's for. All that aside, it is good for the world.

The good news about this? Donna Brazile is always wrong.

Many of us expect that Gore will enter the race eventually. The longer he waits to do so, the better off he will be.

Al Gore is the only candidate with the experience, wisdom and guts to lead us out of the disaster created by G.W. Bush and his evil minions.

He's not the only one.

There are at least two other candidates not beholden to the corporate monster. One on each side of the aisle.

And you know who they are.

Since Gore already won a presidential popular vote, he of course should already be president. I wonder now if the Bush cartel will try to get the Supreme Court to take away Gore's Nobel prize as well. Either that or Bush himself could try to win the Novel prize for himself as that's the only shot he's got at some kind of positive legacy. The thought is hilarious. Unless the Nobel prize can be bought like a Yale degree, FAT CHANCE!

Bush winning the Nobel Peace Prize isn't all that preposterous. Henry Kissinger, another of the vilest war criminals of our time, won it--why not W.?

Hillary clinton is the best choice for president. Donna Brazile lost the 2000 election by not making Gore go to Arkansas. She was a fool. probably still is.

President H.R. Clinton will, no doubt, engage Gore in serious work turning the Bush mess around. President of the World Bank? U.N. ambassador? Environmental Czar?
Frankly, Al Gore would be stepping DOWN to become President at this point. President of the U.N. is a more appropriate job.
Congrats Al! We sane Americans love you.
