Sen. Edward M. Kennedy underwent surgery Friday to repair a partially blocked artery in his neck, which was discovered during an examination of a decades-old back injury.

Kennedy, 75, underwent the hourlong procedure on his left carotid artery -- a major supplier of blood to the neck and head -- at Massachusetts General Hospital, his office announced.

Given his performance in the Senate over all these years I think he's probably bought himself a stay in pergatory rather than a strainght shot to hell. Give him a break. I think he has made an effort at redemption. A human being with major problems, but who wouldn't growing up in that family?

Sen.Kennedy is one of the hardest working people in office,providing representation to the people without regard to class or wealth.He fights the good fight and is re-elected because he is loved by his constituents and is not bought and paid for as most Republicans are.I hope he makes a quick recovery.

Senator Kennedy is a winner in my book. He has consistently been on the cutting edg in terms of the underprivileged, the uninsured, the exploited and the disaffected. His positions from improving and making health care more available to gay rights and opposition to US militarism have earned him my admiration and prayers for his recovery (heretic that I am). He may not be the most noble of the Kennedy's on a personal level, but his record of public service and innovative legislation are beyond compare. And he can still turn a phrase with the best of them. He has only one defect as far as I can tell (these days) and that is he hangs out with Oren Hatch too much. Here's hopin they unclog it and you keep on keepin on Teddy. Giordano
