Sen. Larry Craig was named Saturday night to the Idaho Hall of Fame, marking the Republican lawmaker's first ceremonial appearance back in his home state since his arrest in an airport bathroom sex sting became public in August.
Craig, 62, seated near the front of the banquet room, received polite applause and a few encouraging hoots when he was introduced.

I like how the article referred to the ceremony as a "$50-a-head function." Extras aside, I wonder what the cover charge was?
Sen. Craig deserves to be in the Hall of Fame
When the Sen. Craig story first broke, I was delighted and got a laugh out of seeing a reichwing senator caught with his pants down.
Then as the discussion degenerated into gay-bashing, I went back and re-examined the story.
As a result of my research, I've become a supporter of Sen. Craig. This story is not about gay sexuality. It is about MALE sexuality. Men like lots of penile insertion and anonymous quickies, and there is nothing wrong with that.
What is heroic about Sen. Craig is that he PICKED ON SOMEONE HIS OWN SIZE! He sought out an ADULT MALE sex partner. If more men would follow Craig's lead, the burden of excessive male sexuality on smaller, physically weaker women and children might be lightened.
Thank you Senator Craig!

For Craig, they made a miniature replica of men's room divider. It's complete with toilet paper dispenser and glory hole stuffed with a potato.

It seems fitting that Mr. Craig's Minneapolis tailgate stall be moved to Boise and enshrined in the State Capitol as an example to adults and children of the things that await those who ask not what they can do for their nation, or what their nation can do for them; but what they can do TO their nation.
Well I think it's amusing that the Hall of Fame decision makers said the reason they went through with the selection was because the decision had been made and undoing it would be like taking back the notice to Craig that he had won a place on the Hall of Fame.
That has got to be the lamest excuse I ever heard. Obviously something went on in the background to still grant the award, notwithstanding the arrest.
What is humorous is that Larry would still put Idaho on the spot by accepting the award. If he cared about anyone but himself he would have said "no thank you" instead of once again making Idaho look like a laughing stock.
I can't believe how Larry has kept his story in the news. Wonder what he will do next. Maybe instead of driving into Minneapolis to the Repub convention [so to avoid the spectacle of the airport] he will instead fly in giving the cameras plenty of shots of him walking by the scene of the crime.
Larry's just like the rest of the GOP. He likes to bash gays to hide his own homosexual tendencies and he likes to peep.

If Tenent and Bremer were awarded the highest honor possible (medal of fleadom), why not give Craig the hall-of-fame award? Unlike Bremer and Tenent, he is showing some strength in taking a wide stand against the thugs in the Republican Party (many of them secretly gay) who tried to get him to disappear from existence. Why not induct the whole GOP into the Hall of Fame? They all deserve some sort of special treatment - (no I'm not thinking waterboarding).

Is Larry going to attend the GOP convention next year in Minneapolis - the scene of the crime? The Republicans deserve everything that's happening to them.
Only a state which could produce such a hypocrite could stand up and proclaim him worthy of such an honor. Congratulations, Idaho! You can add this to your already hard-earned Bush-lover reputation. If I was a previous "honoree" in your esteemed group, I'd resign my position immediately. Putting Larry Craig among the group cheapens all of the group.
