AP:

Medtronic (MT) is stopping distribution of wires that connect some of its defibrillators to patients' hearts after learning they may have contributed to five deaths.

More than 268,000 of the wire leads have been implanted. Medtronic and the FDA estimate that problems have occurred in less than 1% of those leads.

Medtronic senior vice president Pat Mackin emphasized that the company's action does not apply to Medtronic pacemakers.

Two observations:

1) HOLY COW! Will ya look at the size of this guy? Jimmy, we're gonna need a couple extra Duracells over here!!

2) HuffPo headline leads to scattered pacemaker failures around nation.
