Ellen DeGeneres and the fight for Iggy, a dog she got from a shelter in September, and then gave to her hairdresser's family, continues on, at least on TV. After sobbing at the beginning of her show yesterday, Ellen again began the hour talking about the puppy.

The rescue shelter where Iggy came from took the dog back when they found out Ellen had given it away, claiming she had signed a document forbidding her to do so. After joking a little about how emotional she had been on Tuesday's show, Ellen sat down and again insisted the dog be returned to her hairdresser's family.

Meanwhile, the shelter insists the dog will not be returned to family and they will not be bullied by Ellen speaking out.

According to reports which surfaced after Ellen taped today's show, Iggy has already been placed in another home, which has left DeGeneres "shocked."

Do you think the dog should be returned?

Perhaps Ellen should consider going to a dog breeder the next time. Myself, I would choose to adopt from a private family who has dogs up for adoption, who also need good homes. They can be found in local newspapers. If Ellen had done either of these, then she might not have had this problem.

If Ellen doesnt 'come out' today and call out those supporters who are making DEATH threats against the new family and the shelter,
and call off her lawyers going after the shelter,
then she is totally irresponsible.
And should quit the show.

She probably should anyway for using her show to force a resolution in her favor when she screwed up.

Sorry, I do not believe they've (mutt moms or whatever their name is) received any death threats. Animal lovers generally do not threaten people with death. It's the Ann Coulters and Rush Limbaughs and Ted Nugents (and the Dick Cheneys, Ws, and Roves) of the world that threaten people.

I have a friend in Alexandria, Va. who had the same experience with a bulldog "rescue" organization. She turned to them for advice about how to manage a very active bulldog, and these "people" convinced her that because she worked during the day, she could not possibly be an adequate dog owner. They literally told her that her pet would be rendered permanently "unmanageable" and damaged unless they found it a new home immediately. She was in a bad place, and believed them. She gave it up crying the entire time, realized immediately that it was a mistake, called them an hour later and asked them to return the dog, and they refused, called her names, and said they would sue her if she pursued the matter. She tried for months to recover the dog, but found out that they had given the dog to one of their big donors. In my opinion, these people are the scum of the earth.

They, and the animal rescue that Ellen used, are using dogs to make a fee by placing them in homes. That money making, in my opinion, is their main concern. The bulldog rescue I am talking about was soliciting donations on-line, and they were claiming to be a tax-exempt entity when they were NOT (they became tax-exempt retroactively only when they were threatened with action by the state). The women who ran this operation were surviving on the basis of the fees paid to them, as well as bulldog "fund-raisers," in which they convince people to show their dogs for "kissing contests," etc. But they are virtual dog-Nazis. They are on a power trip, and believe me, if they were not making a good living doing this, they wouldn't be doing it.

I don't want to imply that there are not good rescue organizations out there, that truly do good work, and rescue dogs for non-selfish reasons. But don't be fooled by the name "Rescue." Anyone can call themselves a "rescue," as my friend found out.

It's all over. The dog has been "adopted" by an unnamed family and for their and the dog's protection, all details are being kept secret. The Mutts and Moms attorney, a fellow named Fink (really, you couldn't make this stuff up!)was on Olberman last night. A really, really nasty and obnoxious fellow. No finesse, nothing smooth or pleasing about him to elicit any sympathy for his client, the "boutique/shelter". He went on a rant about what a typical spoiled bully Ellen was like all celebrities she thinks she can call the shots, well we showed her, etc, etc. Olberman nailed it when he responded that it seemed to be "all about me", meaning the shelter owner. I'm not a fan of Ellen, nor do I ever watch her show, but given a choice between the two, this shelter comes off looking like a bunch of nasty and perhaps even envious people. I think they should perhaps stay with the "boutique" end of the business and give up the adoption business. They seem like very nasty people to do business with. Their lawyer should return to his debt collection business or whatever hateful aspect of law he has chosen to pursue. We can all move on now. Nothing more to see here.

This entire story is just an example of how Americans have been made powerless. The democratic process is a joke. Voting is theater and everyone subconsciously knows that they can't change it. Therefore, whatever tiny bit of power or control they are given will be visciously protected and likely abused.

This reminds me of a time I was shopping for a bottle of wine to take to a dinner party. I was shopping at Ralph's on 3rd and I was asked for ID. I pulled out my recently expired driver's license which showed that I was 29 at the time. The girl at the counter refused to sell me alcohol because the ID had just expired. I tried to explain that I should have received a new one by now, but hadn't. Nevertheless, my birthday would be the same whether the license was valid or expired. She said it didn't matter. I said, "Since when has Ralph's become the DMV?" That's when the girl flippped. Threatened to call police. Tried to have me physically removed from the store by security. Needless to say, it was quite humilitaing for me and my host was annoyed that I showed up empty-handed. Welcome to America. Petty people living in a virtual depression with no end in sight.

Common sense tells us that the best thing to do was to leave the dog with the kids who had bonded with it. I don't have animals but I know alot of people who do and they get very attached and very emotional. I think the shelter should have acted more responsibly. I thought Degeneres taking the blame was a good thing and the shelter should have acted on the same level. They come out looking so very heartless.

Common sense may tell you that leaving the dog with the family is the best thing but you are only looking at half of the situation. This agency may have a contract with the people who placed the dog for adoption that it would not go to a home with children. Given the publicity of this case, the agency might have been sued by the previous owners. One needs to know all of the the agency's policies before making a judgment. Most of them have rules for a reason. If they are not followed, it is an indication that the person who received the animal is not reliable.

Ellen need to get back to her senses and stop this insane circus which she started.

Call a stop to any more comments in public by any of the parties. Enough damage has been cause by all the melodrama that went on.

enuf said.

Lots of poop about Iggy Pup.

Ellen's being an ass. If she really cared about this family she'd get them another dog.

Using her teevee show as a sledgehammer is in bad taste. Makes me think she doesn't care about anything but herself. Should have been handled privately.

How would it be if they had no rules preventing people from giving away animals they had promised to keep? I can't believe so much is being made of this. What a tragedy that the family has to find another dog after having "bonded" with this one for DAYS! Good grief, get over yourselves. The rules are for the protection of the animals. DeGeneres should not have given the dog to anyone else. If things weren't working out, she should have returned it to the shelter. Boo fucking hoo to Ellen.

Mutts and Moms completely blew a chance to have a celebrity publicly SUPPORTING their cause/business. Imagine how much American Express is paying Ellen for her endorsements! How many animals could that have saved? Their little doggie boutique would be as big as PetSmart in no time. I'll bet they're thinking about the lost $$$$ since they don't seem to be caring about much else.

Ellen is sweet sensitive lady.

Moms & Mutts are sweet sensitive ladies who siad they have been threatened by some misguided supporters of Ellen.

Iggy has a new home.

Ellen's hair dresser's kids (the only real victims here) are hurt, but they can get a new puppy and they'll get over it.

Life goes on.

Wow. More than 80% feel a contract should be broken because a celebrity is upset. That's very pathetic, folks.

The shelter obviously takes their responsibility to find animals good homes very seriously, hence the clause in the contract that any animal which doesn't work out will be placed in another home BY THEM. But 80% would trash their good work because they made a celebrity cry by daring to enforce a contract. Shame on you.

not because a celebrity is upset--80% agree that the kids should have their fog back and the shelter shouldn't be so hidebound.

Both parties handled this badly, but the greater damage was done by the rescue org. Not only will they have this bad publicity hanging over them for a good long while, but people who want to adopt from any shelter are going to be aware of this clause now, how militantly it might be enforced, and t
