Anthony Hopkins wants his money.

Samson Inc., a company co-owned by the Oscar-winning actor, is suing Merchant Ivory Productions, accusing it of failing to pay him for his services.

Merchant Ivory owes Hopkins $750,000 for his work in a film called "The City of Your Final Destination," according to documents filed Wednesday in Los Angeles Superior Court. The lawsuit was first reported by CelebTV.com.

I hope it brings more coverage for the movie itself - it is supposed to be fantastic. It's wonderful that James Ivory and Ruth Prawer Jhabvala continue to produce their trade mark quality productions after the passing of Ismail Merchant. It's an odd situation though - hopefully Hopkins ends up with his due and still on friendly terms with Merchant Ivory.

I'm surprised Hopkins agreed to work so cheap, but that's how Merchant/Ivory has always worked in order to make the sort of grand films they make, inluding getting friends to allow them to shoot in grand places for nothing. Not surprising they haven't paid Hopkins. Now they'll pay all right. Really pay!
