AP:

House Democrats failed Thursday to override President Bush's veto of their pre-election year effort to expand a popular government health insurance program to cover 10 million children.

The bill had bipartisan support but the 273-156 roll call was 13 votes short of the two-thirds majority supporters needed to enact the bill into law despite Bush's objections. The bill had passed the Senate with a bigger than two-thirds majority.

So much for leaving children behind! We have a war to fund and have a spiraling and compounding out of control national debt. We're not conservative in the fiscal sense of the word. Your children's children will help pay for all this anyway. Don't you think that we've gotten our priorities right? It doesn't matter that we haven't tried to control any costs related to healthcare!

No more GOP - we've had enough already.
Conservatives support pro-life what happens - Botched abortions: death
Conservatives support no birth control what happens - Spread of HIV: death
Conservatives support war what happens - innocent people get caught in the middle: death
Conservatives support no/reduced health care
what happens - poor people don't get the help thay need: death
You get the idea - a very christian group wouldn't you say.

Wasn't there a phrase that sounded something like "compassionate conservatism"? I wonder what became of that...

I always knew that was a lie from the first time I heard it. If they ever had compassion, they wouldn't be repooplicons.

Enough is never enough?

Coverage of the poor is good but coverage of everyone is better?

Ask not what you can do for your country but what can your country do for you?

You don't really think Kennedy would have vetoed this bill, do you?

The problem is that they are lying about it.
The Democrats; not the Republicans this time.
It isn't about health care for the poor; that was already in place and would not have been vetoed.
It's about giving tax money to the moderately wealthy kids who go around wearing $125.00 Nike shoes.
It's like the democrats suddenly found their own Karl Rove and I want no part of it.

Congress should attach the SCHIP bill to the Iraq war funding and make Bush veto all war funding if he wants to veto SCHIP.

Send that "suggestion" to Reid and Pelosi and every msm outlet available. Then we can watch and report on how they handle it. Something has to move these "leaders" to lead.

Without as much as an appearance or slap on the hand from Ms. Pelosi after the vote...

And what are the first things out of the mouths of these "pro-family", "moral" Republicans after the vote?

"We have a resurgent bacteria strain killing people faster than AIDS called MRSA"...

"Where is our Appropriations bills? When can we expect those?"

The balls of the hypocrite.

The ball-lessness of the phantom Speaker.

Is it any wonder anymore the how and why this crap has been able to go on so long?

Is it any wonder these doublespeak selfish snake Republicans find success in painting the Dems as they have for the past 20 years?

Are the Dems just showing up for work half asleep?

WTF? WTF? WTF?

Sorry, Ms. Pelosi.

You've run us out of tissue with that whine.

Buck up or save the jet fuel by staying home.

Shut the whole damned place down if this is how it's going to dribble.

The two Dems who crossed over in the vote were from Georgia and Mississippi. I bet not many of the 44 GOP crossovers who voted for the kids were from the South!

Does anyone have a list yet of the Dems who voted against this bill so we can do everything possible to make their lives miserable?

This along with the Dem's caving on Telecommunications immunity, makes me so mad I'm almost sick to my stomach...also in the news, Bush plans to open up new logging areas closed during the Clinton administration, and the FCC plans to allow even more consolidation of media outlets...

I guess Bush wants to do as much damage as he can while he's still in office!

Add 5 Million to it, send it back to Mr. 24% and let him know each time he demonstrates his relevance another 5 million will get added and nothing else passes until S-CHIP does. Yeah, I know that would require courage...never going to happen:(

Need a solution, Pelosi? Ear-mark $35 billion in Bush's Iraq request of $190 billion...tell him to cut the profit allowed on no-bid contracts to make up the difference. Oh, and fund investigations into fraud in the last four years of Iraq war spending. Bet you'll recover more than enough to cover S-CHIP.

The true axis of evil.

GOP, Bush, Boenher.

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 02:44 PM on 10/18/2007

That jackass Boenher just said that he and his collegues love children and want them to get good healthcare, but that it was too expensive and its their job to keep spending in check. WHAT THE F IS WRONG WITH THAT AHOLE!!!! Where was he and the majority of the asswipe Repugs for the past 7 years? There were no checks on spending. They throw billions in wasted spending bills to Iraq for Halliburton and Blackwater Execs to get rich.
I am furious at the terrible job Pelosi and Reid are doing. They need to tell Bush and the Repugs that this is war, no more bills that support this illegal bullsheet war. Stop the funding now, who gives a sheet if you are called anti-troop. There is no fight in these people. Could you imagine if Repubs were in charge and there was a Democrat in the White House, they would be making his life a living hell.

You all are on the case. Keep up the blog posts. I'm getting ready to duplicate my postings to many other sites. WE THE PEOPLE have got to take charge. We see that all the efforts of some DEMS. is not enough! Bravo and I thank you all for doing your part for us to reclaim our Country. We have become the pariah to the world. That is a profound tragedy. Take names is the PLAN! Get them out! That children are increasingly their victims is the final assault on reason! I Love you all. You know who-we of like MIND! Peace
