3 Against 1

AP:

Republican rivals Fred Thompson, Mitt Romney and John McCain sought on Friday to become the favorite of anxious social conservatives, each suggesting he offered the best chance of thwarting abortion rights supporter Rudy Giuliani.

"This is not the time to turn our back on the progress we've made on the issues that matter most," McCain, the Arizona senator, told a receptive gathering of "values voters." "I have a record that can be trusted."

Is it really so hard to understand that corporations control both the Democratic and Republican parties? Our government is simply a front for corporations and the wealthy men behind them.

When you empower the government, all you do is empower corporations.

The mindless, childlike liberal just can't see that he/she is being gamed over and over. They push your buttons and you give the corporations more money and power. Fool is the ideal word to use when referring to this group.

The mindless, childlike liberal loves to send tax money to the Military Industrial Complex so they can wage endless war. Great work liberals.

Ron Paul is the only candidate standing against fascism.

When I saw the headline "Romney, McCain And Thompson Take On Giuliani", I had hoped it was accompanied by a sex film. Not because I want to see them all have sex, but because it might maybe eliminate them from consideration as republican candidates.

These thawed-out mummies could be our future rulers? Do we deserve to be governed by corpses pulled from freezers in the cellars of right-wing think tanks and electroshocked into a semblance of being real?
The only one of the four who even looks alive is Romney, McCain still has dummy stuffing in his left cheek, Thompson looks like a ghoul on a rampage, and Giuliani is still a grinning cadaver. And their philosophies match their zombie status.

I guess you can blame it all on the Age of Television. Of course, just LISTENING to any one of them is food enough for disgust.

Say it right who Can PANDER better.

It's very unlikely the Religious Right will jump ship and joint the Democrats, they're going to make do with what they have in the Republican party. They will play the hand they were dealt by twisting it until they get what they want.

My guess is they'll stick it out till the end before they endorse anyone candidate. There is always the possibility for second tier candidates like Ron Paul who may get the endorsement, that would most certainly make him a first tier candidate.

Just you wait Dr. Higgins!!!!

What Republican candidate do you believe suites the Religious Right needs?

I would have to say Senator Sam Brownback.

Oh shit...

'His departure, the third from the crowded Republican field since midsummer, could benefit former Ark. Gov. Mike Huckabee, a former Baptist minister who has a similar message but wrapped in a much more genial package. Huckabee's fundraising, however, has also lagged: only $1 million in recent reports compared to Ron Paul's $5 million.'

'So the Fox News Channel now only needs eight podiums in Orlando for the next nationally televised GOP debate, Sunday at 5 p.m. Pacific time.'

That's about as much polling data as you're going to get.

The Corporate Fascist Regime prefers its right wing. That part of the political process are fascist ideologues. They are so reliable, and they behave appropriately without any bother.

However, the sheeple have noticed that their rightwingnuts have been naughty boys....mostly with dead women and live boys, eh? Besides, the social conservatives, like the liberals on the left, are ignored by the neocons and the DLC centrists on the centre left centre ignore the real left.

So, the DLC and DINO wing will nominate a DLC/DINO and have the MSM enable them to make redundant any real liberal, like Dennis Kucinich. It is not by mistake that a man like Dr. Noam Chomsky, Ivy League credentialed MIT professor, is shunned by the MSM while every PNAC neocon PhD is a talking head on their corporate media outlets.

I still believe that Rudy and Hillary have already been vetted and approved by those who really and actually decide who will be nominated. Whomever is elected is therefore acceptable to them.

The old rule is , run to the right if you are a repub , and run to the left if you are a dem ,to win the primary.

I see the right is following the rule, but why are dems running to the right ?
02:55 PM on 10/20/2007
I think because they have a clear front-runner who is now running in the general, and she pulls the rest of the field Right.

Clinton isn't running a primary race. She's running in the general. She might see this as an advantage. If she runs against Guiliani, he has to veer Left to gain those mythical "swing voters". She won't have to budge.

And, she'll hammer him with "flip flop". She'll tell independents that he's Bush redux: a radical Righty who runs "moderate" when it's expedient. She'll actually have a good argument, too.

I honestly think it's as simple as that.
02:57 PM on 10/20/2007
I hate that answer, I want someone to pander to me, even if they are full of shit, its not fair !
02:57 PM on 10/20/2007
Oh, I think you can figure that out all by yourself, lorne..

Hey Crozier,
How do you feel about the inevitability of the Norte American Union?
02:50 PM on 10/20/2007
That's a nutbar paranoid fantasy.
Ain't gonna happen.

There are no plans to make it happen.

Why not run this pap a few more times, Crazier? You might just convince yourself.

Hey Huff ...

Long term reader here. All you Ron Paul haters out there, try to discount his appeal with the nation.

This a google graph of keyword searches:

Look up Paul in YouTube, Google News, and Wikipdia THen compare all the candidates. I'm sure you'll find Ron Paul is the best candidate out there on either side for his integrity alone.

Rrrrrrrr.
02:24 PM on 10/20/2007
I don't hate Ron Paul, and I doubt that very many here do.

I do recognize him for what he is---a far-right wingnut whose positions on everything except the war are firmly rooted in the fringes of the far right---the John Birch Society in particular.

His racism is transparent, and his desire to dismantle the government is not in the best interests of the nation as a whole.

FYI---the number of google searches is meaningless, unless you want to know how many times someone looked up a particular reference---and every single search could have been done by the same person, since Google doesn't track unique users.

Ron Paul is a REPUBLICAN.
If he were a real progressive, he would be running as a Democrat. Since he's running as a Republican, he's off the list of potential candidates as far as thinking people are concerned.

I really urge people to go listen to Rudolph Guiliani beg religious to let him pass the test for public office.

I had no idea it was this bad, on the "mainstream" Right.

It's shocking. He's groveling.

I think the self-flagellation for Rudy has just begun.

I almost pity him.
02:24 PM on 10/20/2007
I posted a reply awhile back, but it didn't show, but , I saw it, I saw clips of 4 of them ,veins bulging from their forehead trying to connect with the whack jobs. One of them should have brought on a cripple, and slapped them upside the head to cure them, that would have made them a clear winner .
02:27 PM on 10/20/2007
I know now why my other post didn't show, it was on another thread, oh my , oh dear !
02:42 PM on 10/20/2007
Compare Ronald Reagan's abject pandering and groveling to this new crop.

Reagan's was disgusting and politically calculated, but this is ridiculous.

It's remarkable, how far they've gone toward theocracy in 20 short years.

The rigid religious test is now mainstream on the Right.
02:25 PM on 10/20/2007
Il Duce Rudy is going to get exactly what he deserves---a major drubbing at the polls.
02:08 PM on 10/20/2007
Listening to Guiliani try to pass the mandatory religious test for public office this morning is appalling.

He's begging.

Conservatives have screwed this country, but good.

Turn up the sound, Americans. Listen to the conservative politician grovel and beg before the religious proctors.

He's on his knees, before the gathered religious judges. They're judging his Godliness.

Will he pander and grovel enough to pass? I don't think so. There's something desperate sounding in his voice.

Myyy goodness. Appalling. Is this America?

Thanks, conservatives! Bravo.

TEHRAN, Iran - The Iranian government announced Saturday that its top nuclear negotiator had resigned, a move seen as a victory for hardline President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad that could bring about an even tougher stance in ongoing talks.
