AP:

Republican rivals Fred Thompson, Mitt Romney and John McCain sought on Friday to become the favorite of anxious social conservatives, each suggesting he offered the best chance of thwarting abortion rights supporter Rudy Giuliani.

"This is not the time to turn our back on the progress we've made on the issues that matter most," McCain, the Arizona senator, told a receptive gathering of "values voters." "I have a record that can be trusted."

It occurs to me that the only reason to vote for any of these Repubs IS that Romney is handsome.

Yikes.

Can one imagine any of these nincompoops in the White House? Romney will be praying to Jesus, McCain is too old, Thompson is untried, and Guiliani is a lunatic (I know I live in NYC). The only thing more depressing than those four are HIllaryEdwardsObama, yuk.

Al Gore is the logical choice for an American President, he's electable, seasoned, and has gained suprising charisma as he has aged. He can carry the Left and he can carry much of the Right. If he announces we could almost skip the election: I would predict a Reagan-like landslide.

McCain looks closer to Jesus than any of them, although Thompson's neck runs him a close second.

Ron Paul already met Jesus and called him a big government socialist.

Political centrism is the fashion equivalent of wearing nothing but beige.

Who ever rememebers the woman in the beige dress?

Whose ever glanced across the room and said,' Wow, I MUST meet that woman there, the one who blends in with the wallpaper!"

"Communism is conservative. Fewer and fewer people (preferably just the Party Secretary) have any say in how the economy works. Republicans are conservative. Fewer and fewer people (preferably just people controlling the Party figurehead) have any say in how the government works. The conservatives in the US are in the same position as the communists in the 30s, and for the same reason: Their revolutions failed spectacularly but they refuse to admit what went wrong."

Heard a wild rumor. The fascist element will abandon the GOP and reconstitute as a separate party. This will dramatically impact future GOP presidential debates as Rudy will be forced to debate amongst himself.

UPDATE: Earmarxists Lose on Summer of Love Museum
by Jed Babbin
Posted 10/19/2007 ET
Updated 10/19/2007 ET

Yesterday, Sen. Tom Coburn (R-Ok) engineered a successful floor fight against the Clinton-Schumer $1 million earmark to support the “Hippiefest” museum on the site of the 1969 Woodstock Festival. Conservatives should cheer this small victory and encourage Coburn and the other earmark-fighters to keep at it.

Coburn said, “I’m pleased my colleagues took a bold stand…in defense of common sense and rejected the self-interested parochial politics that have disillusioned millions of Americans. Maybe this is the dawning of the Age of Aquarius for taxpayers.”

A new Age of Aquarius? Well, given the proclivities of both parties, it’s probably too early to celebrate. But it’s not too early to thank Sen. Coburn and wish him success on many more earmark hunts.

Well all the Dem's need to do with any of this lot of good for nothings.

Is to use the repug playbook from 04.

Flip-flop.

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 08:18 AM on 10/20/2007

Yes, use "flip-flop" but who ever said the Dem's can ever do anything the right way? Here these wacky repub "pres." candidates weave and bob, trying to appeal to the crazy 25% of this country. Who are they to stick their noses in the life of a woman? How dare they try to tell a woman what to do with her situation? That is up to her and the decision will be not easy for her. The law has been in effect since 1973 and there it should stay. I hate these so-called "values" 25% of the country nuts. Leave the rest of us 75% of the country alone. We are more than capable of deciding what is best for our life and morals. You do not dictate to me what is right and wrong, based on your loopy ideas. That is my choice, not yours. This "religion" crap they spew. This roll in the ailes, scream, beat their chests. This, in my opinion, is not religion. Religion is quiet, personal and reflective. Well, those are my thoughts.

I agree with everything but the 25% part,in my life I don't think there are more than two to three percent of people that are truly religious, most of the other so called faithful use the church as a crutch to show what good "Christians" they are, hoping to use the chuch as a way to expand their business.Or thinking going to church will "take away their sins"(lather, rinse, repeat)They are no more than a "Judas" waiting for a better offer.

We have seen what the past six and a half years brings to the table with Republicans in control.Even though they're not the majority in Congress now, they can stifle any progress. Don't think the American people can't see through this constant Republican refrain of"look at what the Democrats are doing now that they're in charge".These fourth tier wannabees are are out trying to scam any votes they can from a minority of religious nuts that are needed to win an election for Republicans. This is what happens when the votes of religious zealots, southern bigots, corporate interests, and all the other hate groups are required to win an election.Let them drown in their own fetid juices.

Well, as usual, you see it in violent terms rather than for what it was, which is why she shouldn't have done it.

Clearly Pelosi (I don't agree with what she did) was trying to promote civility, which you clearly think is a terrible thing.

Limbaugh raises money by bashing US soldiers.

Pelosi rebukes someone for having the guts to say what needs to be said, ugly as it is, in an attempt to restore civility to this country, civility destroyed by the right wing, and your response is a thrill at someone being "bitch slapped."

Like I said, the right has destroyed civility in this country in favor of thrills and chills over "bitch slaps."

Really sad what you losers have done to this country.

Just the fact that a political website would devote so much time to this non issue is a huge indication of how far the evilgelicals and Chimpy have pushed this country off track.

WTF does any of this boring assed Jeebus crap have to do with running a nation? Never in my lifetime have I seen this topic dominate the discussion at election time as it does now.

There isn't ONE area of this country or it's government that hasn't been obscenely twisted out of shape. Now, thanks once again to the WH monkey, the religious reich thinks they're in control and the rest of us are scared shitless they will be. It will take decades to get back on course, if it's even possible.

Benjamin R. Barber:
American Parochialism: Armenia, the Dalai Lama and the Jewish Question

Very often when people speak of being fair to all the people - Those who think they can dictate what thing's are and will be - Push the most for what they deam as good ...

Take the schip program - They dump it on one groupe of people - and say thats a good thing - But everybody else does not want to help pay for it ...

Take the Iraq WAR - It's a good thing when just the WARRIOR'S and FAMILY are paying for it - But ask other's to get rid of the tax cut's - Too help - buy better armour - You see no help from them ...

It has become easy for them to rush out and preach to other's what they should be doing - Just as long as other's are paying for there fancy ROBE'S !!!
