AP:

Republican rivals Fred Thompson, Mitt Romney and John McCain sought on Friday to become the favorite of anxious social conservatives, each suggesting he offered the best chance of thwarting abortion rights supporter Rudy Giuliani.

"This is not the time to turn our back on the progress we've made on the issues that matter most," McCain, the Arizona senator, told a receptive gathering of "values voters." "I have a record that can be trusted."

If Rudy wins we lose.
If Hillary wins we lose.

The people only win with Ron Paul.

Paul is right about the war, but wrong about everything else.

Under a Rupaul government how will kindly uncle EXXON-MOBIL take care of the populace?

Using my own experience since I'm on a drilling job they contracted my employer to complete let's see.

First will I won't have to fight with Uncle Exxon over the amount of overtime I bill for, because there won't be any such thing as overtime.

No more OHSA compliance.

Coast guard regulations? Who needs them.

Time limits on the work day? Forget about it. Give them crank to keep them awake!

All that EMT training I took won't be needed at all. We'll just throw the dead bodies over the side and call it recycling!

No billing no safety. There goes my job!
ETC, ETC.

Hell as it is they would like to see us swim to the bottom of the Gulf and dig until we hit oil before they would pay for the pipe needed to drill, maybe under Rupaul that may actually become a reality!

GO RON GO!!!

Tomorrow's Neocon Today
Why Clinton II wouldn't offer much change from Bush II

Radley Balko | October 19, 2007

Polls show Hillary Clinton has now opened up a striking 33-point lead over Barack Obama in the race for the 2008 Democratic presidential nomination. The latest poll shows that likely Democratic primary voters favor her in every major policy area. Clinton also raised $27 million in campaign contributions in the last quarter, adding to an already-significant lead over her Democratic rivals.

For seven years, the left has been up in arms about President Bush's aggressive foreign policy, his secrecy, his partisanship, and his expansive claims on executive power. It's odd, then, that they're prepared to nominate Hillary Clinton to carry the party into the 2008 elections.

The problem with Hillary Clinton is two-fold: First, she's likely to be as bad or worse than Bush on all of those issues, and second, she's the one Democrat the Republicans still have a chance to beat.

What makes you think either Obama or Edwards would be so different from Hillary?

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 07:16 AM on 10/20/2007

Edwards is pro union. Thta makes Edwards better.

Obama would not be much different. Barack is more likely to win, because Obama is a unknown snake, while Hillary is a known snake.

Yes, but the people who own the United States, or think they own the United States do not want to return to constitutional government because a fascist tyranny taxes us and subsidizes them.

What would the oil companies do if the technology of thermal depolimerization started turning manure from the farms into crude oil at $15 a barrel. Than goodness out EPA has kept this technology banned.

What would the oil companies do if Ethanol could be made tax free in every farmer's back yard. How would they stop people from building ethanol cars without government to discourage it.

What would the Cotton farmers
do if they had to compete, with no subsidy mind you, no cotton parity, with Hemp farms. Compete with a crop boll weavels won't eat and weeds can't choke out. And a crop that produces not only tougher cloth than Denim, better rope than Nylon, and a useful pharmaceutical as a byproduct.

How would they compete with freedom?

Rudy doesn't have a snowball's chance in hell of winning against Hillary. America is sick of bullies who want to make war. Ron Paul, the anti-Iraq war republican candidate who voted against the war from the beginning, is the only one who can beat Hillary.

This must be the big who-cares? story of the election. Runaway food and gas prices (not inflation); the war drags on; it's summer in October in New England; drums beat to bomb Iran (efforts to make us even more popular on the world stage); domestic wiretapping and other erosions of our constitutional rights, and these monkeys are pandering to the Rapture crowd still? You can't make this shit up.

Priests Protesting Torture at Fort Huachuca Jailed for Justice
Louis Vitale, 75, a Franciscan priest, and Steve Kelly, 58, a Jesuit priest, were each sentenced today to five months in federal prison for attempting to deliver a letter opposing the teaching of torture at Fort Huachuca in Arizona. Both priests were taken directly into jail from the courtroom after sentencing.

Outside the courthouse, before the judge ordered them to prison, the priests explained their actions: “The real crime here has always been the teaching of torture at Fort Huachuca and the practice of torture around the world. We tried to deliver a letter asking that the teaching of torture be stopped and were arrested. We tried to put the evidence of torture on full and honest display in the courthouse and were denied. We were prepared to put on evidence about the widespread use of torture and human rights abuses committed during interrogations at Abu Ghraib and Guantanamo in Iraq and Afhganistan. This evidence was gathered by the military itself and by governmental and human rights investigations.”

The scarier part of this story is not one Network
News Channel is reporting it. I searched on the priest's names.

Searching with CNN, CBS, NBC, ABC I got no story, oyut the story is on dozens of alternative news sites. The dailyKOS, The Buzz, Dandelions, Counterpunch, the Smirking Chimp are all carrying the story, but CNN and NBC haven't noticed. Not even Air America is carrying it.

this article at rawstory is a good read, especially the last paragraph.

http://rawstory.com/news/2007/House_Appropriations_Chair_not_backing_down_1019.html

"Rep. David Obey (D-WI), who has pledged to sideline the latest Pentagon funding request until next year in addition to proposing a tax hike to finance the war, says he's not letting anything -- even Democratic leaders like Speaker Nancy Pelosi -- get in his way."

in the last paragraph disgussing his disgust with bush he remembers a meeting with bush after 9/11

""The Congressman is taking a hard line against a president he says is a non-negotiator himself.

Citing an experience he had discussing homeland security spending with President Bush following the Sept. 11 attacks, Rep. Obey told the Post that the president said at the time that "if you appropriate a dollar more than I've asked for homeland security, I'll veto the bill...I've got time for four or five comments, and I'm out of here."

"I cannot tell you what a profound effect that meeting had on me," Obey said. "I was absolutely thunderstruck at the arrogance.""

Trying to make real protestors look nuts.

In the movie "Brotherhood of the Bell"
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0066864/
1970tv movie

There is a great scene with William Conrad, and Glen Ford. Ford is trying to get out a message about a Skull and Bones like organization at mythical "Franklin University" called the Brtoherhood of the Bell.

Conrad plays a Bob Grant style talk show host,Bart Harris. Geln Ford play Andrew
Proffessor Patterson tries to get the truth out, but Bart Harris keeps taking questions from the audience from UFO nuts, black panthers, communists, tax resisters and gun nuts to lump Andrew Patterson in with them to make his story less plausible.

Kunich should drop out, a wasted vote for the primaries, that could go to another democrat. Do you want Obama as the nominee, so the republican gets the presidency in the general election. I can't wait for him to drop out along with Gravel, Biden and Dodd.

Weird story.

A U.S. soldier who said his Christian beliefs compelled him to love his enemies, not kill them, has been granted conscientious objector status and honorably discharged, a civil liberties group said on Tuesday.

Capt. Peter Brown — who served in Iraq for more than a year and was a graduate of the elite U.S. Military academy West Point — said in a statement issued by the New York Civil Liberties Union that he was relieved the Army had recognized his beliefs made it impossible for him to serve.

I can understand if there was a draft and you were forced against your will, but volunteering then deciding no thank you thats a bit rich.

As I say weird, how could a christian join the army in the first place?

What now, a recruiting drive for atheists?

When many people are at the lowest point of their lives, they find "convenient Jesus."

It makes them more "receptive" to Christian beliefs.

I realize it's luck of the draw as to which photos show up on huffingtonpost.com's page. And the real problem is flourescent light. But poor ol' John McCain looks positively zombie-like, doesn't he?

I've long since given up trying to predict what Republic Party primary voters might do. Alan Keyes has always said the right things to them but he's the wrong color. Mitt Romney says (today) all the right things but he worships the wrong Jesus. Brownback may have actually *believed* in what the Republic Party says it stands for... and got 2% support.

A friend of mine saw a bumper sticker in Iowa recently: "Honk if you've married Rudy Giulani." Will the twice-born really turn out for him?

Huckabee seems to be a genuine advocate of what the Republic Party says it stands for abd seems to have the political savvy to make the GOP agenda palletable.

Ron Paul, of course, is the only true *conservative* running. The GOP can't have that!

After nearly 30 years of Reaganist platitudes, the Republic Party is faced with the logical consequences of what they've said to get elected.

George WMD Bush has so screwed up the conservative agenda it's almost guaranteed that the Republic Party is facing an abyss. Will they nominate someone who stands up for their alleged principle which, in the wake of Shrub, will certainly guarantee their defeat in 2008? Or will they nominate someone who might have a chance to win, and turn their backs on all those issues the GOP has long said they believe in?
