Tonight Brian Williams closed off the NBC Nightly News by bidding farewell to the old Nightly studios and offering a preview of the new set...sort of. What he actually offered was a preview of the comedic stylings he'll bring to "Saturday Night Live":

Astute viewers will note that at the end of the clip BriWi bids goodnight...and turns to go into the new studio. Either he ran smack into a locked door, or he had a key the whole time! What a kidder. We'll upload a view of the new studio featuring Keith Olbermann's giant head shortly, for those of you who can't wait 'til Monday.

Update: Woot! Here's a story featuring a promo video of the new studios, plus interviews with all sorts of important NBC News types. Including a dude named Jeff Sucker. That's what it says!

Update, Monday: It said "Sucker" in the article, — bolded — but they fixed it. You're welcome! Also, those new studios are technically not the Nightly studios, which are at the very end of the newsroom on the other side of the main studios, behind a glass wall. Special! Here, we have what may be the VERY FIRST PICTURE of what was hidden behind those locked doors (if indeed those were the doors to the new studio at all - oh Brian, how can we ever trust you again?) but in any case, they showed a glimpse on "Morning Joe" this a.m., so, voila:

My guess is it'll look different on the air tonight.

In case you thought the Chinese wall between business and editorial interests still exists at any MSM outlet...look no further than a hairdo glibly introducing the 'new look and feel' of their set.

Fresh off his SNL appearance, 'Hollywood Brian' tries to write his own gags.

I'm wondering if Ed Murrow ever cut a promo spot for the new set? Cronkite? Chancellor?

But now does jon Stewart and the Daily Show have to upgrade their set?
Since they have stolen their set idea straight from NBC, including the giant head of Brian Williams, where does it leave Stewart?

Lets see.....
The whitehouse has a new spin zone that was built for the pentagon called the "war room".
MSNBC has redone the today show studio.
CBS did their studio and now NBC nightly did thiers.

Wonder what they are all getting ready for.

Brian Williams is in the top 3 biggest sell outs on Television Today.
Gregory and Couric are 1 and 2.

Riveting news. Thanks for the update. I'll probably spend the rest of the day watching CNN to get a more complete picture.

with the obscene amount of money this arrogant asshole is paid, does anyone think Williams cares about the studio. He would broadcast from a sewer if they told him to - as long as he could wear a nice suit and have proper lighting to show his smarmy smile.

I'll be waiting.

Brian seems to have learned to have a sense of humor. Now if we can just get him to start giving the truth about what he reports on instead of trying to straddle the fence all the time.

Sometimes the TRUTH is the real news, not just who spins what.
