BeckWatch: As Wildfires Burn, Beck Flames Victims

Posted: Updated:

Starting today we are going to be turning our attention to Glenn Beck and his outrageous verbiage. This is a bigger job than any one person can handle. So if you notice anything that Beck says or does that warrants our attention, please let us know and we will be sure to document it and write about it. Tips can be sent to jason@huffingtonpost.com

CNN has gone to significant lengths to cover the ongoing story out of Southern California, where fierce Santa Ana winds have helped spread raging wildfires from Los Angeles to the Mexico border. News anchors have checked in on the story throughout the day. The CNN website is running breaking news out of California in their lead position. Citizen "I-Reports" are being solicited, and the network is even reaching out to those who have been evacuated from the area, taking down information and promising to "post your emails so that your family and the general public can know you're safe."

Amid CNN's full-spectrum coverage, however, only one man has had the guts...err--rather, the mental derangement--to find the silver lining in the inferno. That person? Glenn Beck, who told his listeners, "I think there is a handful of people who hate America. Unfortunately for them, a lot of them are losing their homes in a forest fire today."

Uhm...okay. What's the context? Somehow, Beck was attempting to make a point about how we "need to come together" and how "we're all one America" and that "just because I disagree with you doesn't mean you hate America," and somehow, instead of all this heading towards some great big Kumbaya-drum-circle moment where Noah's dove lights on Beck's shoulder and the entire world gets bought a Coke, it culminated with Beck celebrating how the Fire Gods were smiting the domiciles of our nation's enemies.

Really, the last time San Diego was thus abused by a member of the press was when Ron Burgundy told the city to "go [redact] [them]selves." I mean...wow. Just wow. You stay classy, Glenn!
