Bush Wants New "Surge" -- In The War On Drugs

President Bush announced Monday in Washington that he will ask Congress to approve a $500 million package to help Mexico fight drug cartels, the largest international anti-drug effort by the United States in nearly a decade.

The proposal could represent a seismic shift in relations between the two countries, whose law enforcement agencies and policymakers have often bickered over the drug war, as well as other hugely contentious issues such as immigration reform and trade.

Why do we need to "help" Mexico fight drugs? We're BORROWING money from them for the war in Iraq.

This money isn't going towards drug enforcement, which is a fuckin' joke, it's going to help the Mexican Army & the Federales to quash the rebellion in Mexico's southern states by the indigenous peoples there -- something that's rarely reported in the US MSM.

What a great idea. I am so sick of homeless people littering the streets of America with their filth and begging and sleeping in all the alleys that used to be good shortcuts to get to the movies and stuff. It was so much better before the mental hospitals all got emptied out. Maybe we could get them back again and use the homeless labor to build the barbed wire fences to keep themselves locked in. Woody, I agree with everything you posted except the thing about the Mafia. The mafia began in Sicily, and was brought to New York in the early 1900s. But they did make a ton of money from bootleg boose and heroin.
