Former Vice President Al Gore will receive a second Quill award on Monday at the third annual event that was created to bring glamour and Oscar-style red carpet extravagance to the world of publishing.

Nobel Peace Prize winner Gore's "The Assault on Reason" won the Quill award for the history/current affairs/politics category -- the same award he won last year for his book "An Inconvenient Truth."

Gore is among 19 winners some of whom will receive their awards at a glitzy black-tie event in New York later on Monday. A spokeswoman for Gore said he would not attend the event and his daughter Karenna Gore Schiff would accept it on his behalf.

Al is a smart guy - in a P. T. Barnum sort of way.

Everytime I see this man's face my heart breaks. Does anyone have any idea what the world and this country would be like if the presidency hadn't been stolen from him?

Makes me sick at heart.

He's not perfect, but on his worst day totally asleep he could best these criminals who are in power and getting more power as we speak.
I'll bet you anything that he will not endorse Hillary either. What a screw job both of those people did to the American people and to Gore.

I don't know, I'm not completely sold on Big Al, either, I think his heart seems to be in
the right place, but there's a lot of rich
people walking around with some kind of story
to sell, or willing to capitalize on someone
else's, and Al's no exception, the problems
he talked about in his movie have been with
us for some time, presumably there's more than
one scientist who's already addressed some of
them, but the basic fact remains that 6.6 billion people have to eat, sleep, and .... somewhere, oh, and they need jobs, and they
need money, and they need medicine, and they
need energy, and they need...and and and and and, off the page there. Flowery speeches
are a hollow substitute when you need 10 gallons
of gas, maybe if the hot air can be converted
into forward motion they can work out something
there...

Al Gore should have been President. Al Gore should run in '08. I want Al Gore to lead by example and choose a candidate that can help him unite the country. After watching Chuck Hagel speak about the direction of the country and speaking 'Truth to Power'. I would like to see Al Gore lead by example and run on an American Ticket, Red and Blue. He could bring in good Americans from both parties. I would vote for Al Gore no matter who he chooses. I want to hear his announcement. He has made up his mind and he is going to run in '08. Stop Cheney from bombing Iran. I think he could get people to speak up before it's too late.

I would love to hear what an astrologer has to say about Als chart.
This should have been Als seventh year in the whitehouse. What would America be like today?
No war! no 911! People working on global warming, people with jobs period!

911 would have happened and Gore would have been President--still TALKING at the UN.

No I don't think 9/11 would have happened. George W. would not have been positioning for power if the Supreme Court had not given him the my vote. 9/11 was bad for America, but what has been done to our Constitution and Civil Liberties would not be happening NOW! He would not have attacket Iraq, or be threatening Iran with World War III. Things in America are so much worse than they were on 9/11. Granted some of the Billionaires would not have gone from millionaires to billionaires by raiding the futures of Americans. WAR PROFITEERS AND CORPORATE CROOKS WOULD NOT BE RUINING AMERICA!!!!!

Great book - Assault on Reason.
.
What a contrast between an incurious and unintelligent president and Al Gore. The difference is unimaginable.
.
Bush was a fatal mistake and that choice will haunt Americans forever.
.
Sad.

Assault on Reason is a great read. Mr Gore's analyses on the state of our nation is dismal, but he does recognize hope and gives value to individual participation and a path to reversal of rule by our selected not elected current resident of 1600 Pa Ave. Speak out, speak up, make change happen.
