Another interesting twist in the Dodd-FISA story.

In a move that will up the pressure on Hillary and Barack Obama to stand firm against the Senate telecom immunity FISA bill, MoveOn and a dozen top progressive blogs will launch an all-out campaign tomorrow to pressure the two Senators into publicly declaring their support for Chris Dodd's threat to place a hold on and filibuster the bill, Election Central has learned.

MoveOn spokesman Adam Green tells me that the group will send out an email to "thousands" of its members tomorrow morning, and thousands more throughout the day, asking them to call the offices of Hillary and Obama and demand that they publicly affirm their support for Dodd.

The mere fact tha MoveOn must push such public participation (micro management)reminds me again- neither of these candidates are going to do anthing different then Bushco.

At this point, I really think it is better for Dems to contribute money to MoveOn.org - as opposed to any of these worthless candidates. They should be shamed into place...they should be heckled and confronted, until it becomes so damned uncomfortable they can't get in front of a microphone to speak. It's time for the truth, and action.

Everyone in Congress, and anyone who knows anything about our system of government, should be emphatically absolute in efforts to restore our system of checks and balances.

Bush and Cheney have dangerously exceeded the limits of executive power and it needs to be reined in, so that "democracy" can be allowed to function properly.

The very first Executive Order that Hillary will put in effect if she wins the White House will be to order that all White House interns be fitted with chastity belts to prevent the "Phantom"from violating them. Her second command will be to bomb the shit out of Iran as payment to AIPAC for their conditional support.

Hillary and Schumer have to be pressured to see where they stand on NY governor Spitzer's idiotic proposal to grant NY State drivers licences to illegal aliens thereby giving them the right to vote in NY State and legally drive anywhere in the US,Canada and Mexico. This is a carte bllanche to terrorists who can use this licence to purchase firearms and whatever pharaphenalia they wish.

Hillary is not ,i repeat not for the little guy. Her years in the inner circle of power have blinded her to the plight of the common man. She has sold her soul to the same interests that Bushco has. She is a special interest politician as in give me the money and i'll be special to your interests president. Its time to really think of what we the people want and need and i do not think she is the answer.

At this point in the presidential campaign cycle, Clinton has raised more money than any candidate in history. Those dishwashers, waiters and street stall hawkers are part of the reason. And Clinton"s success in gathering money from Chinatown"s least-affluent residents stems from a two-pronged strategy: mutually beneficial alliances with powerful groups, and appeals to the hopes and dreams of people now consigned to the margins.

Clinton has enlisted the aid of Chinese neighborhood associations, especially those representing recent immigrants from Fujian province. The organizations, at least one of which is a descendant of Chinatown criminal enterprises that engaged in gambling and human trafficking, exert enormous influence over immigrants. The associations help them with everything from protection against crime to obtaining green cards.

Many of Clinton"s Chinatown donors said they had contributed because leaders in neighborhood associations told them to. In some cases, donors said they felt pressure to give.

The other piece of the strategy involves holding out hope that, if Clinton becomes president, she will move quickly to reunite families and help illegal residents move toward citizenship. As New York"s junior senator, Clinton has expressed support for immigrants and greater family reunification. She is also benefiting from Chinese donors" naive notions of what she could do in the White House

Hillary says she may roll back powers of the executive.
UNDERLINE the word MAY!
Her husband said he would not push NAFTA unless changes were made, but he did without any changes. Don't trust these Clintons, they lie, bigtime.
They are Republicans.

Will she do that before or after she moves for a Constitutional ban on flag burning?

If Clinton wins the Democrat nomination and whom ever wins the Republican nomination, will guarantee a Republican President, no matter which one wins.
So we would have two republicans running against each other.
Clinton is a republican like her husband! Remember Bill Clinton pushed NAFTA and other trade deals that put millions of middle class people out of good paying jobs.
Unions went from 33 percent down to 7 percent.

Someone has swallowed the whole damned fishing pole too...

The democrap leadership has the ability to tell their party members to vote ONLY the party line, IN SPITE of what they tell their kool-aid drinkers.

Their, oh well - so sorry, 'slightly' losing effort to stop the new FISA BILL will be WELL ORCHESTRATED to look like the leadership put up what resistance they could...

BULLCRAPOLA!

The dems now have me believing they understand 'playing' their voters much better than they're given credit for.

The dems also CAN STOP IRAQ and CHOOSE NOT TO!

You are so right. Just looking at the results shows the Dems to be pretty much the same as Republicans.

Now, now moonbats. All this angst.

Hillary will be your candidate and you will still vote for her, so please spare us all the hyperbole about your principles.

Yeah, and the Iraq War was gonna be a cake walk, too. Neocon predictions, based in fantasy, as usual.

Soon, very soon, the very same nutroots who are railing against Senator Clinton today will be singing her praises! The moonbats will soon be not only drinking, but rather guzzling, the Clinton purple Kool-aid. Wait and see.

Things are not worse than ever for Civil Rights, things are BETTER than ever for Civil Rights.

If this came up 30 years ago, NOTHING would have been said about it.

That's my opinion, I would love rational arguments against it.

Any sitting Elected Official who has failed to take an active stance against warrantless surveillance of Americans, the with holding of Habeas Corpus Rights, Due Process of the Law, and the freedom to peaceably assemble is not a lawmaker defending and supporting the Constitution of the USA and the laws derived from it.

PERIOD!
This fight is about principles. Plain and simple.
PRINCIPLES, Good old fashioned American Principles.

Is torture EVER an American Principle?
Warrantless surveillance of Americans... an American Principle?

I could go on however, The problem is that far too few of our lawmakers actually take their Oath seriously. Look at the disparity between Kucinich and the media darling, Hillary. She excuses what the President does and continues to do as somehow necessary because "we're at war." All the while failing to even comprehend that our Founders were at war, ON OUR SOIL, and found it pretty significant to leave as a Founding Principle... even at in time of war. Now compare this to Kucinich... H.Res. 333. Duh!!!

However said, if the current stream is left to it's own course, Hillary's or Obama's, or both, who knows... whomever it is that becomes the next President, a failure to issue a stance and make a move to correct the course, is a sure sign of the inability to even budge when in Office.

REMEMBER:
If illegal spying is bad enough NOW to be recognized as element of this Government that is in need of an imperative change, then how is not acting NOW supposed to signal what anyone is capable of and why aren't these candidates taking a stand against it, NOW!? In other words, if it is bad enough now to do nothing now, it will signal to the next regime what will be tolerated and allowed... even in Hillary's or Obama's etc.

Pelosi had no right to take impeachment off the table.
If the president and Vice president are found guilty of breaking the laws that were clearly broken they should be indited and convicted.
Not upholding the constitution is an impeachable offence, they violated the oath of office that they swore to uphold, this is lying under oath, the definition of perjury!

Why waste time bothering Hillary or Obama?
The people we need to be sending a loud and clear message to are Pelosi and Reid; the sell-out crew that are destroying any hope that real Democrats may have for having a say in the government of this country.

Right on...Yes, Pelosi and Reid, the MIA Dem's,who were supposed to kick ass and restore our good name and standards here. Haaaaaaaaaa
Here is the W-ism, "Fool me once, shame on you, fool me twice, you can't get fooled again. " The Dem's will continue with the "Unitary Executive" theme, count on it. Both parties have no use for the American people. Get used to it. The Dem's enjoy being losers. You will see....They will not be elected to the WH in '08.

I do not know how I could be anymore disgusted with my Democratic Party leadership than I was today listening to Pete Stark apologizing for his previous comments today. Rep Stark surely was forced to apologize with pressure from Speaker Pelosi and others in the House Democratic leadership.
As a VN Vet I am just sick and tired of all these politicly motivated posturings whilst all the time our sons and daughters are dying. It seems to me the Democrats are as culpable in this war now as much as the Republicans and the Bush Administration. The Democrats had thier chance and they blew it on political calculations and triangulations.

It is Congress that has the power to restore its own powers. That is the balance that needs to be reclaimed first. The president has no right to to distort the balance of powers accorded by the Constitution.
The coup operated by this administration is illegal, thus criminal and Congress is the accomplice.
Questioning Hillary or Obama about what they might concede is childish. No President has any legal power not accorded to him by the Constitution or Congress. If we admit otherwise then we have left the Republic and are in another regime.

So the Congress MUST be alright with the power grab of this administration. What would be the reason then? That is what I would like the investigative writers, if there are any real ones left, to find out. Just why is this happening and how can they honestly get away with it?

I agree.

"Don't tase me bro..." Congress style.

The proverbial, "Don't tread on me..." and if you do here's what will happen to you.

Why so many cowards in Congress?
