Bomb Iran? U.S. Requests Bunker-Buster Bombs For "Urgent Operational Need"

Tucked inside the White House's $196 billion emergency funding request for the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan is an item that has some people wondering whether the administration is preparing for military action against Iran.

The item: $88 million to modify B-2 stealth bombers so they can carry a newly developed 30,000-pound bomb called the massive ordnance penetrator, or, in military-speak, the MOP.

The MOP is the the military's largest conventional bomb, a super "bunker-buster" capable of destroying hardened targets deep underground. The one-line explanation for the request said it is in response to "an urgent operational need from theater commanders."

The U.S. bombing Iran's nuclear capabilities will be another non-event like when Israel recently bombed Syria's nuclear capabilities.There will be no counter attack from Iran and any threat they posed will be neutalized.You liberals are just a bunch of hysterical little children.That's why you're not running the show.

I think it would be wonderful if we strapped Bush and Cheney to one of those missels and send it off! They want to blow up the world apparently, or just anywhere there's oil or some natural resource we can steal.

On Monday a documents was sent to Congress asking for an additional $42.3 billion, bringing the Pentagon total to $189.3 billion. The Congress replied by saying we don't need to discuss now since it is not needed until spring of 2008.

Do you believe the unanticipated increase of $42 billion in war funding is for striking Iran?

One TV report said the new bomb was much stronger than the US-built Massive Ordnance Air Blast Bomb - MOAB, also known as ‘‘Mother of All Bombs''. ‘‘So, Russian designers called the new weapon ‘Father of All Bombs','' it said.

Showing the orange-painted US prototype, the report said the Russian bomb was four times more powerful - 44 metric tons of TNT equivalent - and the temperature at the epicenter of its blast was twice as high.



i hope than the russians provide iran with the means to deploy this weapon against the american invaders.

If Bush decides to bomb Iran, his popularity and that of the Republicans will soar! The Republican base thinks that it is our manifest destiny to turn all Islamic countries into democracies and to bring Christianity to the heathens.
