"What amazed me the most was how Obama's 1 Million Strong Group took more than 8 months to get about 380,000 members; but Colbert's 1 Million Strong Group took less than a week to get 750,000 members," he wrote.
Raj Vachhani, creator of Facebook group "1,000,000 Strong For Stephen T Colbert," the largest political group on Facebook according to Brian Stelter of the New York Times.

yeah this does not matter nor does it amaze. Colbert is a comedian and not a serious candidate, that is easy for people to get behind, since it is all a joke. Obama's group is a group of contributors, who put up money, has this facebook group put up any money for Colbert? I doubt it, and assuming they made 0 donations makes it even easier to sign up.

I think this is a fun gimmick and I am glad Colbert and Comedy Central have gone for it, but to compare his campaign to a serious one is a fool's errand.
