On today's "The View," the ladies were discussing women hitting men and whether it's OK for men to hit back. Sherri Shepherd, the gift that keeps on giving, apparently condones the practice: "Nowadays, if you hit a man, you better be expected to get slapped right back," she said. Watch:

Men who physically assault women are front line soldiers for male supremacism. The basis for male supremacism is that males are generally larger and physically stronger than women. Women are divided from one another and thereby conquered via the institution of marriage. Common law provided that a man owned his wife and all the children she produced the same way he may have owned his farm and livestock.
Many women are disabled and even killed by direct male violence. In many cases, an abusive father will threaten to take away a mother's children.

I didnt think she condoned men hitting women. I thought she said if you hit a man, you can expect to get hit back. Hitting anyone can have unexpected consequences. I never watch the show, I just happened to see this story
I know some women who can absolutely kick a guys ass. Personally, I was taught to smack anyone who hits you including women. And I taught my son to do the same thing. But I also taught my son to avoid the possibility, because you are going to get a lot of grief after you do it. We should treat each other as humans and use common sense at all times. Women do no have the right to hit anyone accept their kids.

Most women know which men to hit and not to hit. They hit the nice guys. They will never slap a leatherneck.

There used to be a TV show, "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" that featured a small, thin teenage girl beating up grown men, one right after the other. This show was fiction. It featured special effects. In the real world, nothing of the kind happens.
My grandmother told me. If you're big enough to hit, you're big enough to get hit. Everybody should keep their hand to themselves. Sherrie is right. Some of these women hit just as hard as some men.
I love the wide eyed look of panic when she realizes she's said something moronic and how Joy doesn't change expression or look at her while she's digging the hole. The same thing happened on world is flat day. It can't be that black women will continue to support her no matter how many inane things she says. I mean, stupid is stupid no matter what color it comes in. There are gazillions of funny black women who can keep their wits about them when they're asked if the world is flat. Once upon a time, I subscribed to the conceit one should never hit a woman under any circumstances. I recall how my father slapped my mother around to enforce his rule and would never do such a thing. However, having endured physical violence from others of all genders and turned the other cheek, I must confess that "one size fits all" does not work. No matter what some may wish, violent responses are all that some people can or will understand - and sometimes the police will not respond in time to make any difference. For some, the possibility of such an interaction remains inconceivable. For others, such a possibility must be established clearly and decisively to avoid them. Having at one point been threatened repeatedly by females at one job, we did not get along until I clearly stated that I would defend myself without compunction against any attempt to harm me. I could never see myself in a relationship with such women, but I realized their disposition is a result of their socio economic roots and it is not for me to correct it or teach them more civilized mores, and that it is more effective to express myself after their own fashion. Further, I decided that, if we must be equal, and subscribe to the ideal, should a woman wish to initiate a conflict predicated on the supposition that I cannot or will not harm them, it seems that it would be in my best interest, and their best interest, to disabuse them of this notion. Words can only disabuse people of so much. It would be pleasant to live in a world where it is not necessary to entertain the possibility, but we do not live in this world.
Suppose another man is watching when the woman slaps you. Would you hit her back if I were there to intervene on her behalf?
I'll slap the hell out of her. Some of these women hit harder then some men. You either hit them back or some of them will kick your ass.

Balzac--At least in theory it would be possible for a man to intervene on a woman's behalf, but I've never seen it happen. The closest I've ever seen is that a son may fight for his mother.
As a general rule, men are far more loyal to one another than to any woman. Men also tend to be afraid of fighting with other men. Not only is a second man unlikely to intervene but he may even join in, as is the case in gang rapes.
Why are you getting into all these fights? You sound like a walking self fulfilling prophesy.

I would never hit a women. Nor would I lie to myself and say that women are equal to men. Women are weaker and have less control over their emotions.

Women are weaker in most respects. While they are mentally as capable as a man they are prone to bouts of unreasonable emotional duress.
Perhaps women are emotionally and spiritually superior to men.... but that really doesn't mean a whole lot now does it?
Emotional stability doesn't depend on "controlling" your emotions. Emotions can't really be controlled, ultimately.
Emotions can be repressed, but they'll find their way out of you in the form of passive aggressive resentment towards women, for instance, or in the form of an uncontrollable outburst.
The key to not being a wimp is elusive to most men.
Only a women would say that emotional can't really be controlled. Reason should dictate emotion, not the other way around.
Women are not weaker then men. They are simply different. EXAMPLE: Have you ever seen a small woman carry a fat baby on her hip for hours. They have different kinds of strength.
We are different, but women are weaker than men. It's not a subject open for debate... it's simply a fact. Men are better at reasoning skills, spacial relations, and hand eye coordination. Of course this is a generalization, but it is a correct generalization.
We've already established that Barbara Walters is the godmother of Arianna's daughter. It also seems to be pretty well established that Arianna will be posting all the inane comments that come from Sharrie's mouth in order to draw attention to Barbara's show. Knowing this, can't we just boycott any future mention of this pathetic show and it's hosts & move on?

I didn't read where anyone said that it was ok to hit a man. I would never hit my husband, but if he hit me he would do a lot more damage than I could, he outweighs me by a good 100 lbs and has four inches on me. I would hardly call it an equal match. This Sherri person is an idiot, to even suggest it's ok for a man to hit a woman. How about it's not ok for anyone to hit anyone.
