Ahmad Chalabi, the controversial, ubiquitous Iraqi politician and one-time Bush administration favorite, has re-emerged as a central figure in the latest U.S. strategy for Iraq.

His latest job: To press Iraq's central government to use early security gains from the surge to deliver better electricity, health, education and local security services to Baghdad neighborhoods. That's the next phase of the surge plan. Until now, the U.S. military, various militias, insurgents and some U.S. backed groups have provided those services without great success.

a criminal administration working with and paying off a criminal, what a shock. in the meantime, our troops are dying while bush and his buddies at haliburton and blackwater get rich.

Why would Gen. Petraeus say that Chalabi, an international criminal, is an important part of his plans? What new crimes are they planning?

I say send Chalabi to Jordon to persuade the Iraqi refugees to return then count the days until he's arrested!

Halloween doesn't scare me half as much as the moron in chief and his boot lickers in the W.H.
So, the good General thinks Chalabi is going to give them the straight stuff on Iran, Iraq or anywhere else. He's Cheney's new BFF so we all know where were headed next. Off on George and Dicky's great adventure. Lord help us.

RAMADI, Iraq â??" Lt. Sayce W. Falk stopped mid-stride and stood in the dust-fine, silvery sand. He smiled serenely at the scene ahead.

"Good. That is good," the lanky Marine said in a quiet, almost reverential tone as he watched workers load filth into the back of an orange dump truck. "It makes me happy, just to see them working."

It would be an understatement to say that Falk has a passion for picking up trash. Like the other Marines in his infantry unit, the 3rd Battalion, 7th Marine Regiment, Falk sees trash pickup as the key to maintaining security in Ramadi, where a decision last year by Sunni Arab tribal leaders to turn against insurgents has brought calm to the once-violent capital of Anbar province.

Falk is one of several members of the unit who were in Ramadi in early 2006, when U.S. convoys raced down the main drag at 65 mph to dodge insurgent gunfire. Every patrol risked hitting buried bombs or being caught in a gun battle.

The situation had changed by the time the unit returned in April. Marines trained as snipers, tank experts and riflemen found those skills unnecessary here. Instead, they became masters of municipal mess, working under the theory that the way to keep the Iraqi city from going back to the insurgency was by improving the quality of life, from the fetid ground up.

Now, instead of worrying about roadside bombs, they worry about puddles.

One more toadie from the Bush syndicate.
Wasn't he the cheerleader who provided spurious evidence of WMD's in the first place?

Keep an eye on both Chalabi and Rove--wherever they go corruption is sure to follow.

Wars do not happen unless insiders of the country to be invaded allow for it. They make their deals and work out how they can profit financially and then find ways to screw their own people. This, my friends, is what war is about. Profit. Always has been...always will be. Mark my words.

I was hoping and praying that the whitehouse punishes Chalabi and Curveball for supplying false information that killed and maimed so many and destroyed a country . that s what happens when a country finds the information it was given faulty .it would have done a lot of good to America's image. But i dont think they care , they knew all along the info was bogus .

Look at all his bodyguards. The thug must need a hundred or so since thousands want to kill him. In fact, I'm surprised he's still alive.

Bush. Chalabi.

The only way I will possibly be able to get to sleep tonight would be by imagining them standing handcuffed together in the Hague.
