The National Security Archive filed a motion on Friday, October 26, seeking expedited discovery against the Executive Office of the President to find out what e-mails are missing from the White House e-mail system or backup tapes.

Archive General Counsel Meredith Fuchs explained, "The pressing need for the information arises out of troubling representations by the EOP and its components about its document preservation obligations and the location of its backup tapes. We need information so we can take steps to preserve all possible sources of e-mails deleted from the White House servers."

Also on Friday, a similar motion was filed in a virtually identical lawsuit brought by Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington (CREW) on September 25, 2007.

We have to sue our leaders to comply with the laws they were sworn to protect, and yet the Democratic-led Congress says impeachment is not a wise move. I'm waiting for the big white rabbit with the stop watch, yelling "I'm late, I'm late." Problem is, by then it may be just that, too late.

Truly amazing. The bush league administration has to be sued to comply with the requirement that the government operate transparently. They are simply not allowed to operate in a vacuum of secrecy, but they have blatantly been doing so for 6+ years.

I've said it before and I'll say it again: there is a real reason Congress has a jail in the basement. USE IT.

Another mini chapter in Bush/Cheney Administration

- Admin breaks decades old law
- Congress raises concern
- Admin tells congress to GFT
- Congress Caves

How many times is this going to happen? This should be a front page story, but now it is the same "old" (sorry) story.

Re "troubling representations by the EOP and its components about its document preservation OBLIGATIONS and the LOCATION of its backup tapes..." (emph added)

The White House has a national security obligation to "secure" back-up tapes containing White House email. Period. DUH! No?

And they don't even know that?

It shouldn't hafta take a lawsuit.

Now, let's be clear - is this an entity that has MORE power than congress? Cuz, if not, what's it gonna get us?

Clinton couldn't get away with a BJ, but Bushco gets away with violating the Hatch Act of 72, the WH records retention laws, circumvents the oath of office to protect the constitution while trashing it, puts us into a war under false/cooked intelligence, employs their crony friends to profiteer from the war, and bankrupts our treasury with NO CONSEQUENCE???

WTF, WTF, WTF, WTF happened to this country? Why is the majority of the MSM just saying nothing about this?

C'mon Pat Leahy, Specter, et. al.-DO YOUR F'ING JOBS AND FILE CONTEMPT CHARGES AND THROW THESE THIEVES INTO THE BASEMENT JAIL!

Just get a teenager to work on the White House computers and he or she will find the "lost" or "deleted" e-mails.

By the by, why is the White House "losing" all of these e-mails? If they don't know how to properly back up their info that is for the benefit of We the People of the US of A, then maybe they should go back to using pen and paper--or someone may think that they are Deliberately Destroying evidence of wrong-doing...Gee, I wonder why they would want to do that--maybe they have something to hide???
