I Like ItI Don’t Like It

At last night's debate between Democratic presidential candidates in Philadelphia, NBC's Tim Russert asked a flustered Cleveland Democratic Rep. Dennis Kucinich whether he'd seen a UFO.

Here's a transcript and YouTube video of their exchange:

RUSSERT: Shirley MacLaine writes in her new book that you sighted a UFO over her home in Washington state, that you found the encounter extremely moving, that it was a triangular craft, silent and hovering, that you felt a connection to your heart and heard directions in your mind. Now, did you see a UFO?

KUCINICH: Uh, I did. And the rest of the account. It was an unidentified flying object, OK? It's like, it's unidentified. I saw something. Now, to answer your question. I'm moving my, and I'm also going to move my campaign office to Roswell, New Mexico, and another one in Exeter, New Hampshire, OK? And also, you have to keep in mind that Jimmy Carter saw a UFO, and also that more people in this country have seen UFOs than I think approve of George Bush's presidency.

It reminds when me and a few friends went to a dark open location on the top of a hill, to see Hally's Commet.

There were a bunch of intoxicated folks there too, when out in the distance two bright lights went up and down and left and right then hovered and did the same thing over and over for 45 minutes. All the drunks were screaming UFO UFO and were scared shitless and expected to be beamed up.

I'd had a good idea of what it was and was right when the 2 magic lights flew right over us. They were 2 Huey helicopters on night maneuvers at the National Guard bombing range in the distance.

Good job helonias. You managed to explain away one UFO citing.

Now you only have about a million others left.

And unlike the drunks in your example, many of these come from stone-cold sober pilots.

Good luck. I'll keep checking your progress.

And unlike the drunks in your example, many of these come from stone-cold sober, but really gullible people with way overactive imaginations.

As I wrote before I spend 100's of hours a year observing and photographing celestial objects and know venus from mars from jupiter from sky lab from a meteor. Why haven't I seen a UFO. But the average person who spends 10 minutes a year looking at the night sky sees them all the time.

Well, folks and there you have it.

The debates are pure Barnum and Bailey.

"Bobble Heads" moderate the "dog and pony" show.

"Reality TV" at it's worst and most corporate.

This is what's really going on here, see below.

Kucinich: ” Tim, we’re here in Philadelphia, the birthplace of democracy. I want to know when this Democratic Congress is going to stand up for the Constitution and hold the president accountable with Article 2, Section 4 an impeachment act. I think that our democracy is in peril and unless the Democrats and the Congress stand up for the Constitution, we are going to lose our country.”

Kucinich is anything but crazy. He comes off as being the most sincere, thoughtful and genuine Democratic candidate. He's not claiming to have partied with E.T. or anything like that - he saw something in the sky and he didn't know what it was. What is the big deal?! At this point, Kucinich would definitely get my vote.

Kucinich is correct: More people in this country have seen a UFO than approve of the Bush presidency. I'd go one further: More people have claimed alien abductions than support the Bush presidency. It's too bad Kucinich didn't put Russert on the spot by asking of what importance the question was to the political debate.

Great quote BrokenMirror.

So true, so simple, so why is it being ignored by mass media including huffpo?
Not only is it being ignored, it is being replaced with the screaming UFO headline in a clear attempt to discredit our man Dennis.

When the establishment feels threatened by someone they go after him. Maybe we should take this as a sign that the Kucinich factor is growing and becoming a concern for our governing fascists....DLC included.

It is heartening to see all of the decent aware people here who refuse to eat this shit sandwich being served up by huffpo.

Russert is a corporate whore, a Bush cheerleader, a war advocate and a slovenly fat bastard.

Kucinich is a great man, a true American hero who speaks truth to power.

He needs our support and our best efforts right now to heal our nation. I like what I see here from the commenter's.

PS Naomi Klein is calling for a general strike on November 6....and possibly on the 6th of every month from now on.
Google it and get involved.
Let's not get down by this despicable coverage of Kucinich. Let's get energized and inspired. Double your efforts and fight the good fight.

Peace.

Mine too.
Fact is, no matter what people say here most people believe in the posibility of ufo's... it does not mean saucers and aliens necessarily but an unidentified object..
People spend more time staring into an electron gun or plasma screen than the sky. There could be all sorts of things going on in the night sky.
Airliners travel on set routs that are similar to highways, they don't come close to seeing what could be there but airliners have reported objects. A report by a plot is serious. They are trying to avoid collisions with any traffic reported or unidentified, some of these did not resemble known aircraft.
My issue is with Russert. He is just putting on a show. As one of the major talking heads on tv news he does the voters a disservice with his stupid, irrelevant questions.

Mitt believes he can become a god, his wife will be his goddess, and they will rule over and populate their own planet.

Becoming president, and delivering the U.S. economy to the Mormon church, would cinch godhood for Mitt.

Kucinich was the only candidate to understand that the destruction of the Constitution is the destruction of "We the People". He is the only candidate that spoke with commitment and conviction that is ALWAYS for support of the average tax paying citizen. His conviction showed up all the other candidates as being full of rhetoric and the same ol 'artful deception'. Now Chris Dodd, is obviously a reincarnated used car salesman with a really gifted syncopated patter. At one point, during one of his responses, I swear that he auctioned off two school buses and a 73 Buick LaSabre with 80,000 miles, for $2,3oo. Had he not gone into the artful dodgery of politics, I believe he could have revived P.T. Barnums circus of curiosities.

DENNIS 4 Peace!! Your sign's in my window. Saw you again @ Harmony Fest/Sonoma Fair!
Why is IMPEACHMENT never reported in the corporate press? Hey! HUFFPO, how about a headline? Or at least an endorsement for discussion?
John Stewart's so right "Cluster f$$k to the White House." ("fake" news indeed!!)
I'm a boomer mediachick born & raised blocks from the White House, grandkid of successful radio pioneer pre-WWI grandparents & mom who followed in the 20's til the 80s.
This WHITE HOUSE cabal is elusive and clever beyond sinister & frightening. Ignore, avoid & spin. They don't care, don't even bother to respond, because they're in the catbird seat with all the power, even to future pardon themselves before they leave in 14+ months. They'll just continue to amass capital & be set for life, beyond justice, because of who's now on the Court.
They need to be cuffed, carted off, and indicted w/out bail(flight risk--are you kidding??). This is JUST the future of the world!!!
We need to WAKE THE F$$K UP!!!
SHOW UP & get Pelosi out of her comfort zone.
Civility & Tact with our global neighbors. Brutal, naked honesty with ourselves. This government is us until we get rid of it. It's like throat & liver cancer, spewing bile. Needs to be excized--STAT!!
PS--I like Mis-identified Flying Object -- MFO has a certain ring to it!!

Most Americans believe that a mythological character named Mary had sex with an imaginary Supreme Male, who used her ear instead of her vagina, so that she could stay a Virgin, so that he would know that the kid was really his, because we all know that Supreme Males are controlling SOB's.

Seeing a UFO seems tame after that.

Russert is the real sideshow of the debates. Who in their right mind would even ask such a question? Someone with an agenda who wants to create an issue out of "thin air" so to speak.
Sorry. At least BriWi criticizing disadvantaged people who "choose" to live in disaster-prone regions was honest conservatism.

How bout that asswipe Russert asking a question that is worthwhile to ask. Like "What is your plan for ending the Iraq war?" or maybe "Briefly tell us your plan for Universal Health Care."
But of course the idiot can't ask those questions it would ruin his rep of not asking the right questions.
If the idiot would have asked important questions when Bush was blowing his intelligence community then maybe we wouldn't be in the mess. FU Russert.

Kucinich's "faux pas" didn't come off nearly as badly as Chris Matthews and now HuffPo's headline writers are trying to suggest.

He said he saw an UNIDENTIFIED Flying Object, not an alien spaceship or E.T. Let's chill people and get to some real issues. I'll take Kucinich seeing UFOs over Bush's conversations with a war-mongering God any day.

FOR THE LAST TIME:

It wasn't a U.F.O. It was a B2 Stealth Bomber

Maybe it was unidentified to Kucinich because he is so very very very Anti-War, he doesn't recognize US Military aircraft, but what he described was a B2 Stealth Bomber. He's not crazy. He just didn't know we had large black triangular shaped aircraft that could hover "quietly" like they were designed to do. Look,

A B2 does not hover quietly, you can actually hear their enignes even though their radar signature is the size of bee. And Dennis is no dummy, I'm against war and sure as hell know aircraft.

Just how do you really know what he saw? is it the same certainty that makes a blind Obama believer?

Hey Isaak - you'd be surprised. I once saw a B-2 fly-by and I didn't hear its engines until it was practically on top of me.

And the first impression is a pretty spooky one. While it's true that the B-2 does not hover, I can imagine that if you see it from a particular angle, say, flying directly away from you, then it might appear for a moment as if it were hovering. And if you've never seen one before, it does kind of look like a space ship.

i wish everyone realized that 'a u.f.o sighting' does not necessarily imply that the object sighted had to have originated from outer space - it simply means that the object observed was 'unidentified.' it could very well be that the aircraft in question is/was a device constructed by our own military.

i myself once witnessed a genuine u.f.o - only in my case, it was an unidentified floating object - some sort of military watercraft. i, and all others with me at the time, saw it while we were sailing on san diego bay. it looked something like a very large, floating, extruded, three-dimensional triangle with surface qualities very similar to those found on military stealth fighters and bombers.

moreover, last night, during and after the debate, i saw two identified floating objects on television - a couple of ugly, smelly turds who go by the names of 'tubby' timmy russert and chris 'tweety' matthews. what a couple of morons.

"it looked something like a very large, floating, extruded, three-dimensional triangle with surface qualities very similar to those found on military stealth fighters and bombers."

If it looked like an F-117 on "skis", it was the new stealth pseudo-destroyer. I saw the prototype in Darwin in spring 2001. Its a joint project between the Australian, American, and Canadian navies. Its the actual version of the stealth ship depicted in Tomorrow Never Dies.

My husband saw something very strange once, some kind of large round craft sitting on the ground, that vanished suddenly. Several people with him saw it too. All were totally sober. He doesn't believe in interstellar space travel. He doesn't believe in anything supernatural. He doesn't know what the object was, therefore, it was an Unidentified Flying Object.

Gotta admit, he's very open-minded in approach to politics and life. Maybe that's why he actually saw it. (the first native Americans to see Columbus's ships on the horizon are said to have not even been able to make the ships out until the European crews had landed and pointed them out).
