His name only came up once in passing during Tuesday night's presidential debate, but in a way, Sen. Joe Lieberman, a Democratic presidential contender himself in 2004, was very much present.

Four years ago, it was Lieberman up on stage during the debates with John Edwards and the other Democratic presidential hopefuls.

LIE-berman is what we have to start ridding the Dem. party of HE is never to be trusted. Ans. this QUESTION FOR ME how can LIE-berman be going to the DEM. Convention as a SUPER DELEGATE, when LIE-berman was ELECTED as LIE-berman for CT., he is not even an IND., he starded his own party, so how does he get to go to the CONVENTION as a DELEGAT, with VOTING RIGHTS. There is something WRONG here.

Bewildered? No. Scornful, condescending, and sanctimonious? Yes.

Bush has lied and stretched the truth so many times beyond recognition. The new revelations about "curve ball" on top of Chelabi, the yellow cake myths and on and on. The thing that puzzles is how Joe can justify believing a single word coming from any of these guys. Does he want to talk about the generals? After Shinseki, they all have carried water for the administration until they have some kind of epiphany after leaving the service. They dont have any credibility here, either. There have been voices all along trying to hold back the tide of viscious lies and stupidly violent policies and they have been dismissed and vilified as unpatriotic all along. Meanwhile everything they said would hapen has come to pass. Bush was the one who campaigned in 2000 saying the democrats were too adventurist in foriegn policy. It was Bush who campaigned in 2000 saying we shouldn't be engaging in nation building. This administration doesn't do quagmires, and Iraq is going to take months, not years were positions they expounded on, on the way into Iraq. Now years later they shamelessly tell us we should expect a Korea like 50 year occupation and Joe is bewildered that people aren't embracing more of their pronouncements.
These are not honorable men. They are liars to the bone. They are big men sending other peoples children of to die, a chance they were not willing to embrace when they were young as they had other priorties. These people belong in cages.

The Whiny little bastard ought to write for the Neocon Weekly Standard! If we need Iran's assistance re a political solutrion with Iraq, why do we sabre rattle and call them names? Sounds a little counterproductive, doesn't it?

The L-man appears to be suffering from a slowly creeping mental deficit...perhaps Alzheimer's or some form of psychosis. For an ex-presidential candidate, he is sure out of touch with the majority of Americans on Iraq/Iran who want American troops out of the ME and do not want further escalation of war in the region.

I couldn't believe he asked such a wildly inappropriate question to Gen. Petraeus during the general's testimony on Iraq: "Do you need funding for an attack on Iran?" (I'm paraphrasing.) The look on the general's face was priceless...that's not even his area of responsibility!

L-man, you couldn't buy your way into (or out of) a paper bag! Get a clue Joe...it's time for you to go.

"Adopting a tone of sorrow and bewilderment", I cannot think of a single constructive reason to support the Kyl-Lieberman resolution. It is not only hostile and provocative at a time when we need to relearn real diplomacy, but it whispers consent in the ear of a president who needs little encouragement to pursue war for war's sake... clothing himself in powers never envisioned in the Constitution (but much feared by the Framers), enriching his confederates and beggaring the rest of us.

Said Lieberman: "At some point, we"ve got to get over this distrust and partisanship."

Well, Senator, it would help if you'd stop posturing as a bi-partisan statesman and be a little truthful for once. Go ahead. Say it. Say, "I'm Joe Lieberman and, damn it, I love the spotlight. When my Democratic friends didn't come to my aide when I lost in the primaries to Ned Lamont (how dare they hide behind playing by the rules!), I vowed to make their lives miserable. And I'm enjoying every minute of rubbing their faces in having to deal with my pontificating posturing on a daily basis.

"Screw 'em all. This is MY Senate seat and I'm ENTITLED to it."

What Lieberman pretends to believe is sheer theater. His true beliefs are: 1) He is entitled and 2) The number one obligation of the U.S. is the preservation of Israel and defending it and all its actions at all times.

Lieberman is a neocon holding a Democratic committee seat which should be stripped from him. Force his hand. Let him cross the aisle even if that gives the Republicans the Senate. It's not as though the Democrats can do anything anyway -- other than take the lumps that should go to obstructionist egotists like hangdog Joe.

"Lieberman said Tuesday before the debate that his and Kyl"s measure "ought to be non-controversial.""

Of course it ought to be non-controversial, Senator. Controversy weakens this country, as every right-thinking patriot ought to know.

Those that don't should be made to taste a little water on the board.

The military's assessment of Iran's involvement in Iraq in at least one area has been found to be in error. See this article on EFPs, which the military has claimed to be manufactured in Iran, despite evidence of several factories having been found manufacturing them: http://www.ipsnews.net/news.asp?idnews=39810 Surely Lieberman knows this.

The press has not been doing it job. The coverage of both Kyl-Lieberman and the Iran issue in general has been horrible, as it was during the build-up to the Iraq war, and risks leading us into another stupid war.

It's deja vu all over again.

Lieberman is a true patriot and he brings a welcome voice of bi-partisan sanity and realism to the US Senate. He's a good man.
