From President Bush's address today at the right-wing Heritage Foundation in Washington DC:

I ask Congress to send me a clean Veterans funding bill by Veterans Day, and to pass a clean Defense spending bill. Congress needs to put the needs of those who put on the uniform ahead of their desire to spend more money. When it comes to funding our troops, some in Washington should spend more time responding to the warnings of terrorists like Osama bin Laden, and the requests of our commanders on the ground, and less time responding to the demands of MoveOn.org bloggers and Code Pink protesters..

The crowd responded with a sustained standing ovation. Watch the video:

Take your medication every morning and every night
Friends" praise has sent your ego zooming to a dizzy height
Increase your medication for you"ve become a callous snob
A stranger"s praise is praise indeed best suited for that job
Take your medication them perhaps at night you'll sleep
And not be haunted by dead faces from that ever growing heap.

When I saw this clip on Olbermann, the first thing that came to my mind were the regular posters on Huffpo. You know who I'm talking about, the supposed moderators on this board who basically respond to every post, and use insults and intimidation to get the last word in on any subject. It is worth noting the many of the Huffpo posters are completely out of the main stream of political thought. The vast majority of posts are from a small group of loonies from the far left wing fringe of the Democratic Party.

Bush's criticism is especially stinging because of the lost confirmation fight of the new AG. While Huffpo regulars were up in arms over the issue, and the tone of the discussion was one of hysteria, the fact that this AG nominee is going to get 70 votes means that half the Democrats really don't care about torture as a political issue. His criticism will stick because he is "winning" the political battles.

It is a damn shame we let this guy finish his term...it makes it look like we actually agree with the way he thinks....and the way he does his job. It is going to take a lot of backbone to turn world opinion around about us after the mess he has made.

http://www.heritage.org, the banner behind him, is the website of a self-proclaimed pro-globalization group. Going by one or two of
their topics, they're also kind of bible-thumpy.
http://www.moveon.org/ is the democrat counter
to this, they're all for being anti-war, however
tongue-in-cheek that might finally turn out
to be, they criticize FOX news, FOX is the
station that yielded up Tony Snow, you hear
all kinds of stories these days from all kinds
of different people, I don't think I'll send
any of them any money, looks like they've already got plenty...

This from the Loser in Chief who does not worry or care where OBL is, tells the comanders what to request, and whose only worry with a spineless congress is the Code Pink and MoveOn folks. Bye bye American pie...

Code pink protesters? Is he bringing back the Cold War or is this some sort of gay Republican code? For the record, I'm a true blue protester.

Bush can't speak anywhere without a hand picked- thoroughly vetted audience. Do we seriously care that his audience responded to the applause sign? Any news stories about Bush are so tiresome because let's face it- the vast majority of us are just literally counting the days until he is out of office.

Fox News has violated all principled rules of journalism. The vogue fashion of modern journalists is to criticize blogging as unprofessional ranting - It seems to me that some of those folks at Fox should take a hard look in the mirror.

President Bush continues to ignore the voice of the populace. Blogging ethics is in its infancy - but for sure - we can feel the heat rising. The President has become acclimated to a mentality of denial.

MissingAmerica--CNN is already downplaying and dismissing the report and claiming the Saudis can't be believed because they in effect aid and abet terrorism and most of the hi-jackers on 911 were Saudis. Bush will never be held accountable and liable for his incompetence prior to and during the attack on 9/11. He is a stain on the thread of American history.

Nova16. . .which goes back to my original post. Better to verbally kick the chair that to dirty their hands. I think the world should declare an international Holiday to commemorate the day Bush leaves office. Lest we forget.

Logicanada--what you present is a viable plan, with the country seemingly divided 70%-30%. However, the American people voted the dolt into office twice for whatever reasons and their ignorance, complacency and disinterest in their own security and economic welfare in the face of a quasi-fascist government is noteworthy. The majority of American people unhappy with the incompetence in Washington are reluctant to "dirty" their hands with demonstrations, marches, civil disobedience, etc.,etc. The lack of support for what has passed for protest the past several years indicates a society willing to let its hard fought for democracy, Constitution and Bill of Rights slip into obscurity.
