Desperation is never attractive and that was no more apparent than on NBC this morning. Jerry Seinfeld has been everywhere promoting "Bee Movie," but no outlet overloaded the degree of Thursday's "Today" show. Although it's a DreamWorks release, NBC has an interest as they have exclusive rights to air "Bee Movie" in the future and have been airing 20 live-action shorts promoting the film, like this one.

But perhaps the best-spent ad dollars were those spent outfitting the entire control room in bee shirts and the camera men in antennae, both featured in the video below.

They even had cleverly titled NBEEC chyrons over the actual interview. Beerilliant!

But Meredith summed it up as she slipped on her own bee antenna, "Jeff Zucker called and we're desperate."

From NBC, 11/1

That damn bee movie has had more press than Anna Nicole's death, Britney Spears' crotch shot and Paris Hilton's release from jail combined.
All these animated movies with celebrity voiceovers have over-saturated the market. They should have stopped with Shrek, then come up with something new and different.
I'd rather drink hemlock than sit through 90 minutes of listening to a nebbish bee deliver shtick.
Seinfeld- you have a new movie- we get it. Now scram.

IS this just good fun or does NBC have an investment in this movie or a buddy who does?

I agree, just roll your eyes at him, wish "Seinfeld" was still in production and be glad he's not sporting a nasty coke habit.

Seinfeld ain't my friend, he ain't my brother or cousin, we don't work together and drink at the bar together, he's a friggin' comedian. I expect nothing from him except laughs; the Seinfeld episodes still do that. My wife gets them from Netflix and they are still just as funny to me as he ever was. For me he has fulfilled his obligation.

Geez guys! LIGHTEN UP! It's a promotional campaign. No need to hate Seinfeld and/or spill all that bitterness here.

I for one am happy he's back with something new to show. It's true the PR for this movie is outrageous, but hey if you don't like it there is so much out there to read, listen or watch: why wasting time on something you 'a priori' don't like?

For whatever it's worth, I truly loved "Seinfeld", and am looking forward to see his Bee-ilm :)

I just watched another talk show with him where he is offended because someone asks if his show was canceled.

It was really strange and initially I thought it was a joke they planned together but then both of them appear uncomfortable so I don't know if he was actually upset or not. The more I see him out of character the more I think it's better for him to stop doing any publicity at all.

How many people actually say "do you know who I am?" and are serious about it? I think it was meant to be funny but it wasn't.

Seinfeld was the least funny person on Seinfeld. he didn't write the show and you can't call what he did acting.
He was so off the mark on Letterman trying to defend his wife who obviously stole her cook book idea.
Seinfeld called the person trying to protect her original idea from seinfeld's wife a "wacko"
he tried to say that the cook books came out at the same time...which is untrue ...he tried to say that the issue was mashing up veggies...which is also untrue.
The original book came out at least 6 months prior to seinfeld's wife's book and the idea that was stolen by Mrs Seinfeld was about sneaking healthy foods into kids meals.
When someone uses this kind of untrue defense it is because they are the one's lying.
I am so sick of Seinfeld the show and the person and wouldn't bother to see his movie.
When a movie is pushed so hard like his has been it is usually so bad that the only way to get some money from it is to push it hard before
it opens and pay critics to give it a good review...which I am sure is what is being done.

It's just so great to see Jerry working again! That's what I'm happy about!

Is it me or does Seinfeld do a horrible job of pretending to enjoy the interviews he gives? He seems very wooden, distant, and patronizing. It seems like he can't wait to get out of there, go back home and wait for the checks to start rolling in.

On the Daily Show last night he remarked at how hard it will be for him to challenge his child intellectually in his (?) formative years given that a) Jerry and his wife were screwball C students growing up and b) his child is going to die rich no matter how he performs in life.....

So, Wow, how easy it is to be smug...and how little he has to look forward to.

My 7 year old son pointed this film out on Nickelodeon when I allowed him to watch some tripe in my room. The problem for me is how do I get out of taking him to the cinema to see this crap. I cannot stand this kind of animated predictable nonsense. Then I read on this post that McDonalds is involved in this as well. I have a moral duty to stay away from this but how?

I saw this interview yesterday and thought it was typical Today Show fare. I guess I've been watching the right network because I've hardly heard of the Bee Movie until yesterday. I rarely watch the Today show anymore, and just shut it off after watching Matt interview Obama.
