Nbeec Desperation

Desperation is never attractive and that was no more apparent than on NBC this morning. Jerry Seinfeld has been everywhere promoting "Bee Movie," but no outlet overloaded the degree of Thursday's "Today" show. Although it's a DreamWorks release, NBC has an interest as they have exclusive rights to air "Bee Movie" in the future and have been airing 20 live-action shorts promoting the film, like this one.

But perhaps the best-spent ad dollars were those spent outfitting the entire control room in bee shirts and the camera men in antennae, both featured in the video below.

They even had cleverly titled NBEEC chyrons over the actual interview. Beerilliant!

But Meredith summed it up as she slipped on her own bee antenna, "Jeff Zucker called and we're desperate."

From NBC, 11/1

I used to watch Seinfeld pretty regularly ... until one episode when he and (fat guy?) were in the lobby of NBC. Someone asked him what he was doing and he said he was pitching a show to NBC. When asked what the show was about, he said "nothing." I realized he was right and never watched again!

Someone here called Larry David "genius?" Man, I don't see THAT, either.

What kills me is the absolute perfect timing of releasing Seinfeld - COMPLETE SEASONS DVD Collection along with the opening/press tour for this Bee Movie....there's a lot of different interests involved in these two separate money-making ventures and I'm surprised they were able to cooordinate calendars for his press junkets...

Seinfeld is putting the "JUNK" in junkets, but can you blame the guy??? This is how Hollywood media operates and we the consumers eat it, buy it, absorb it, digest it, even copy/share it....

so who do we blame??...the corporate media moguls for putting it out there, the corporate media whores we call actors and artists, or the consumers for buying into the whole charade??

I wont's even get started on the fact that I'm sick and tired of New York comedies written with no leading actors of color.... Between the Seinfelds/Friends/Everybody Loves Raymonds....you'd think no black people lived in New York.

Debate start now....;-)

The only reason I am happy that the movie is finally being released is because, hopefully, we won't have to watch anymore stupid ads and interviews. Thank goodness for the mute button on my remote!

Samantha Bee should have played the female lead in this movie.

I am so sick of Jerry Seinfeld whoring this stupid cartoon all over the place. First it was all those 3 minute comedy bits during Chuck and Heroes. Then I see the Bee Movie selling fast food with a custom McDonalds TV ad. Now this. I don't care if this wins best animated movie of the year. I won't be blowing $10 on this mediocre tripe ;o)

Looking forward to seeing this. I'm a fan of CGI movies, and this looks like fun. Having said that, what is it about the Huffington Post that attracts the most angry, bitter, miserable people on the internet?

This clown is won the lottery knowing Larry DAvid. The real genius behind the show!

I don't doubt for a minute what Seinfeld has said in interviews about his work schedule and involvement with the show, but it is really clear just from what we see on-screen that Alexander, Richards, and Louis-Dreyfus worked their asses off to make that show good.

Seinfeld made enough money on his t.v. show to live comfortably till he bites it, WTF do we have to see his face on t.v. again?

Guys, it's the entertainment world. Deal with it! Send PBS or NPR a few bucks and get your news there. Expecting the dinosaur networks to deliver critiques on those who determine their survival would be like asking you to slit your throat. No free lunches - not anywhere!

Viera doing an interview about nothing is not a novelty. When is Seinfeld doing the view. Why didn't he wear a bee suit for Halloween?
It would not be sillier than the puffy shirt.

I can understand why NBC is allowing Seinfeld to pimp his movie all over 30 Rock (the building and the show), but doesn't Seinfeld know that people aren't watching NBC that much anymore?

Why single out this one movie and Seinfeld in particular for such bashing? Oh, I get it- we enjoyed our build 'em up period- now let's knock him down. Seems to me that Seinfeld is merely laying back a bit and enjoying his family rather than desparately trying to dazzle the masses again. This makes him a mediocre has-been?

Lighten up, people- there are plenty of people who deserve the nasty critiques- most of them politicians...

I saw a screener of the Bee Movie. And this is a movie of more hype and PR than it is of substance. Its cute, kind of funny and predictable , but nothing that deserved the close to year of build up it got.
