BriWi on SNL: We Show The Clips, You Decide

Huffington Post   First Posted: 03/28/08 03:45 AM ET Updated: 05/25/11 01:15 PM ET

Brian Williams hosted Saturday Night Live this weekend, and everybody's got an opinion — but for those of you who missed it (and weren't watching the pump-up segment on the Today show — synergy!) are are wondering how it might affect which anchorperson you turn to in a moment of crisis, HuffPo has put together this gravitas-busting highlight reel so that you may decide for yourself. Apologies to NBC, except now that your YouTube page is down and the catchily-named Hulu is completely inaccessible, it's harder to find your stuff (oh, come now, the NBC SNL page just isn't the destination of choice for the kids these days). Then again, is the Nightly News? See if BriWi can change your mind...or send you running back into the safe, warm embrace of Charlie Gibson.

Who the fuck cares?!

Where in the Huffington Post is the article or footage of Impeachment resolutions brought up by Kucinich?

Get with it!

Knock it off with the cute initials. It got old two years ago.

Brian Williams is a human being with a self effacing sense of humor.

Please give us more.

With all the celebrity BS filling our airwaves, while serious issues are ignored, making fun of his celebrity is refreshing and much needed.

I actually find him more reputable and reliable by acknowledging the absurdity of celebrity and image over substance.

Well, as long as you realize you're dealing with one very gifted and skillful actor who invites your projection of trust and seriousness onto him, he's OK with me.

Brian who?

Williams on SNL was better than that stupid Green is Universal bs the peacock is shoving down people's throats.
Now if they only did a skit about Williams being required to host due to NBC's cutbacks (i'm sorry new NBC 2.0 program) and showing Al Roker doing Bob Costas' hair and makeup...

Brian breaks ground as first journalist to go theatrical and does it with panache. Bravo

I love Brian Williams! I always look forward to him being on Late Night with Conan, and so I thought it was awesome for him to be on SNL. I loved it! Why are there so many negative people out there? I mean its one thing to say you didn't like it but to say it sucked and SNL needs to die...insane. I do agree that Saturday Night Live will never be as good as it was in the late 70s and 80s but it's still alright. The early years were SNL at its prime, and will never be forgotten.

Campaign finance is the disease.

I wouldn't mind a journalist pretending to be a clown so much as I resent a clown pretending to be a journalist. Brian, whether he likes it or not, is the latter.

I am glad he appeared on the show. Life is too short, we all need to laugh more.

What's wrong with you people?

Brian Williams was a RIOT!

His self-effacing jokes were hysterical. While other anchors (also qualified, brilliant types) cry into their spilled milk (Rather, Koppel), Williams made huge fun of himself and the industry.

Way to go... !

SNL is dead and should be properly buried. Lorne Michaels personifies the Randy Newman song, "I'm Dead And I Don't Know It". The Holloween sketch I saw on YouTube looked like it was written by an 11th grader.

I guess Neil Young was wrong - it's better to turn to rust.

Actually, I thought the fireman skit was Brian's best work. A little pathos, a bit of bumbling, could a role as the little tramp be next? Seriously, he did a good job on SNL and I cannot imagine why anyone would object to seeing another side of a newsie.
When Peyton Manning aced his spot on SNL, did football fans debate his gravitas on the field?

Brian Williams is my new favorite newsman. I will not be able to watch him without giggling he was EXCELLENT.
