Olbermann "Ratings Wave" Shifts MSNBC Prime-Time: Rosie In, Tucker Out?

Riding a ratings wave from "Countdown With Keith Olbermann," a program that takes strong issue with the Bush administration, MSNBC is increasingly seeking to showcase its nighttime lineup as a welcome haven for viewers of a similar mind.

Lest there be any doubt that the cable channel believes there is ratings gold in shows that criticize the administration with the same vigor with which Fox News's hosts often champion it, two NBC executives acknowledged yesterday that they were talking to Rosie O'Donnell about a prime-time show on MSNBC. ...

But even without Ms. O'Donnell, MSNBC already presents a three-hour block of nighttime talk -- Chris Matthews's "Hardball" at 7, Mr. Olbermann at 8, and "Live With Dan Abrams" at 9 -- in which the White House takes a regular beating. The one early-evening program on MSNBC that is often most sympathetic to the administration, "Tucker" with Tucker Carlson at 6 p.m., is in real danger of being canceled, said one NBC executive, who, like those who spoke of Ms. O'Donnell, would do so only on condition of anonymity.

Tucker Carlson is just awful lately and I cannot stand to listen to his blather and interrupting his guests with his inane commentary. I would hope for Rachel Maddow to have her own show somehow. She could have some terrific guests. Arianna would be one of them and Katerina Van Denheuval[ from The Nation- would be another one. I can even see her with Pat Buchanan.

Please find Aaron Brown and put him back on the air. Someone???? I like to watch him think. No, he's not a liberal or a conservative. He's just a guy who turns the news over in his mind and tries to make sense of it. We need him too!

The industrial-military media of this country will never be free until the government steps in to make it free and fair. That means getting rid of destructive dissenters like Tucker Carlson, John Stossel, Rush Fatboy Limmbaugh, and other conservatives (all slime) who do not have a valid, mature opinion. It's time to take them off the air in the name of fairness. Enough is enough, people!

Edwards/Kucinich 08!

Joe Scarborough and Tucker Carlson are from the days MSNBC was kissing Bush's butt. With nearly the entire country awake and angry about what has been done to this country, they don't need the lunatic right wing flaks anymore.

Joe's been sent to the early morning vacuum (where he'll continue to interview the usual lunatics and, hopefully, get replaced with someone better) and Tucker ..... well ..... those couple of viewers that tune in don't merit the electricity needed to broadcast his right-wing viewpoints. His show is so bad that MSNBC doesn't even rebroadcast it.

It would be nice to see Aaron Brown back on cable news after CNN dumped him to give a whole 2 hour show to Hurricaine Pretty Boy and News Model Anderson Cooper. It would also be nice to see Phil Donohue apologized to and brought back by MSNBC after their horrible treatment of him while they were shilling for Administration approval.

Whatever they do, MSNBC must STOP with the predator documentaries filling up airtime at night and on the weekends. Yuck. How many repeats of those shows can anyone in their right mind watch??

Olberman is killing Bill Oreilly, Sean Hannity, Ann Coulter, Michelle Malkin, Rush Limbuagh, Glenn Beck, and the right wingers cannot stand it, too see a liberal with the gonads too call them what they are..., it is truly sweet too see..., as too Tucker Carlson he prestends too be independant but he is always pushing the Bushite, right wing agenda, he whines and crys like a little sissy when he cannot prove his point, cannot brow beat someone into agreement with him, unlike his bullie buddies at fox, he ought too go there one can bet if MSNBC axes him he will like many who cannot make it in normal media go too the propaganda network for the right wing Fox...

The cynic in me worries that this company is just greasing the skids for the "Billary" Presidency.

It will be interesting to see how this shift toward the anti-bush (not necessarily left-leaning) plays out. If the people on MSNBC start to present Billary as the antidote to the Cheney presidency some major alarms and flashing red lights should wake you from your slumber.

Any whiff of that false Rep/Dem dichotomy and I'm GONE.

Rachel Maddo
Sam Seder

Thanks msnbc for providing at least one hour on the news channels that actually reports the truth!

I love Tucker - funny, attractive, fair minded, honest....everything Keith Olbermann is not. There is no reason to watch MSNBC now - no Tucker and no Imus. Another key demo viewer gone because you're a bunch of loons.

The heading is so phoney too - Keith is so far behind Bill O'Reilly's ratings, it's a joke.

Anybody but Tucker Carlson. I have written CNN on several occassions to tell them Tucker should not represent them. He should be on FOX News. I have to switch the channel at 6 pm every evening. I can't stand Tucker or his guests.

Keith Olbermann is my hero!!

Don't put Rosie in Tucker's timeslot. Definitely fire Tucker, but put Aaron Brown back on the air. I always enjoyed his show on CNN, he is a real reporter and journalist. Too bad he got bumped to make room for pretty boy Cooper.
