Writer-Free Colbert Introduces Nancy Pelosi At Glamour Awards

Last evening, as the writers' strike got into full swing and late-night talk shows halted production, one comedian found a venue for his work. Stephen Colbert was tapped to introduce House Speaker Nancy Pelosi at Glamour's Women of the Year awards, where she received special recognition from the Conde Nast title. So for one night, the only people watching Mr. Colbert were in the packed Avery Fisher Hall at Lincoln Center. Mr. Colbert's introduction--in which he displays a suspiciously comprehensive knowledge of current women's fashion--follows.

Glamour? There is nothing glamorous about war crimes. As Pelosi continues to fund the illegal, and unprovoked war in Iraq, she has becomne complicit in the crimes of the Bush Administration. There is no other way to put it other than she is a war criminal. She is no different from the civilians in Japan that were responsible for the unprovoked and illegal attack on the US in 1941. Those cilivians and military men responsible for, AND THE CONTINUATION OF, the war were tried, convicted and executed as war criminals. PELOSI HAS BECOME A WAR CRIMINAL AND WILL BE SO TREATED BY INTERNATIONAL LAW.

Suppose someone like Colbert or Stewart is also a member of the Writer's Guild. Does that mean that if he speaks off the top of his head, it is okay, but if he jots down his thoughts, even on a napkin, then he is a scab?

Well worth going to read. His reference to mandals made me giggle.

Four-inch eyebrows, matching earbrows. Speaker Dennis Hastert was a plus-size model for Lane Bryant."
