Look Out! Chris Matthews Has a 'Theory'!

Chris Matthews told his Hardball audience today that "this gender thing is so tricky to talk about." And it is! Especially if we're going to continually suggest that it's unfair for Clinton to play "the gender card" when there isn't exactly a rich tradition in America of politicians refusing to play their advantages for fear of making it unduly tough on their opponents. (see: Giuliani, unrelenting playing of 9-11 card)

That said, what's shouldn't be so tough to talk about it basic grade-school history:

MATTHEWS: Here's my theory, and I'm going to be totally positive. Men voted back in the early part of the last century to give women the vote because...they had all the votes, why not share this with women? Women are smart, we're married to them. If mama is not happy, no one is happy in the household.

It's no wonder Matthews has such a tricky time talking about "this gender thing" when he seems unaware that the entire women's suffrage movement even happened.

I really enjoy "Hardball" except when HRC is mentioned. For some unknown reason CM flies off into space whenever he mentions her. I wonder what the underlying beef is, real or perceived, but man he hates her!

oh... and MEN fought to give women the vote?
Hello?
Excuse me?
Did he really say that?
Geeeze that is scary.
Of course there were men who jumped on the band wagon and were of help. But women were the ones who agitated, campaigned, struggled to be able to vote... all over the world. Sufferage wasn't just an American phenomenon.
Christ, can't he even read Wiki before he says such stupid BS.
He foams at the mouth about HC and a few weeks ago it was a love fest. He goes on and on that everyone is talking about blah blah blah... and HE was the one doing it.
What an ass.

Matthews needs a valium.
He is hysterical and I don't mean in the ha-ha kind of way.
He is making me crazy-er.
I camn barely watch him anymore. I scream or mutter at the TV and email the show.
(Could MSNBC block email? I've gotten a few bounce backs lately!) not that i'm paranoid.
heh.

anyway, he is NUTS!
I wish he'd run for something... preferably a local something or other.
What a pain in the ass.

Today's show will be how wonderful the Robertson endorsement is for Rudy without any critical evaluation of what odd bedfellows they are.

Chris Matthews Hates Hillary

He might as well have a tattoo on his forehead announcing: "I Hate Hillary." Each day as a rule, Matthews lambastes Democrats. He did it in 2000, 2004 and is teeing up Hillary now so he can drive her into the rough before voters vote. .

In 2000, he showed his love for then-Texas governor George W. Bush. Sucking up to him along with the main stream media herd, he campaigned for Bush by mocking Al Gore for silly, first-grader issues like being "stiff" or "moaning."

In 2004, he battered and berated John Kerry, constantly attacking him using Rove’s Republican talking points while never questioning the motives, money and movers behind their debased Swift Boat campaign. He never demanded Bush disavowing their campaign.

He has shown his unexplainable infatuation for Rudy Giuliani. Why isn’t he questioning Giuliani’s outlandish profiteering from the tragedy of 9/11?

Matthews denigrates and trivializes democracy. Like a school boy, he treats it like it’s another baseball of football game. .

He treats Hillary’s attributes – being disciplined, focused, smart, experienced, unflappable, strong – as campaign and character flaws. From one two-minute segment in which Clinton wasn’t as “genuine” or clear as Matthews demands only from her, his zeal to skewer her as if he were a Fox News assassin is embarrassing. But he permits Republicans to get a way with verbal murder.

Matthews constantly pounds on why our “Democratic Congress” don’t just stop the war or defund it. Having custody of Congress is different than controlling Congress. Unable to override Dear Leader’s veto, Republicans, in effect, control Congress. Water projects show that Bush can be put in his place. Hope Republicanoids wake up to children’s health issues as well. Matthews should turnout his hunting dogs on the dozens of Republican Congressional lawmakers who defend Bush.

Chris Matthews has turned into a black eye for journalism. He is now a prime example of why the news media, which swallowed Bush and his lies hook, line and sinker, is helping to subvert our once cherished democracy.

He's a known alcoholic, so maybe he's drunk every night. His hysterical antics and his inability to engage in reasonable discourse can't be explained any other way. MSNBC should dump him.

Chris Matthews is unwatchable. He is so moronic it is scary. He dumbs down every conversation.

He fawns over the people he likes (John and Elizabeth Edwards) and takes carping pot shots at everyone else. The Edwards campaign put together a video of supposed double talk by Hillary Clinton and the next day Hardball virtually looped it for the whole show. He should go to work for the Edwards campaign, and in the off chance they get elected see if he doesn't turn up working for them.

What bothers me the most, is that he claims to be asking for a higher level of political dialog yet at the same time he contributes to the dumbing down of politics. Why not take the time to flesh out a very complicated issue like immigration. Clinton's answer to immigration cannot be boiled down to a 30 second sound byte because it is too complex, and anyone who can get it into a 30 seconds byte isn't answering the question and hasn't considered the difficulty of the problem.

All you have to do is look at Matthews sexist actions on his own show. I rather doubt Erin Burnett is anxious to go back on after Matthews notably leered at her.

Having his wife interview him on his own show as part of his book tour. It was like having his Mommy interview him. And then he claimed his interview at Stewart's show was uncomfortable because he is taller than stewart.

The man clearly has issues with women and about his own image. Of course he is confused about the gender card. He is confused about his own gender.

well when you have your mommywife interview you on your own show and talk about your mother in the most patronizing terms

Matthews is the biggest horses ass on tv
he is a random comment generator
the only consistent thing is his pimping for Rudi otherwise he is just spewing crap

I'm glad his brother lost he came in last
