when did she get separated, before or after meeting Paul?

Hope we don't have another Jessica Seinfeld here.

Hope Paul has learned from his past.

What's with Sir Paul and the damsels in distress repetitive pattern? First a one-legged gimp, and now another cancer survivor. Its like he has this very strong rescue fantasy of coming charging over the hill and taking care of these females who have had bad things happen to them.

Perhaps its some residual guilt from being unable to ultimately save Linda, so he has to repeatedly act out the story. Perhaps its some regressive infantilism that he has not grown out of, and sees himself as a gallant knight (well, he is a knight at least), who comes wearing his armour (read: Condomn, but not always) to rescue the fair lassie.

Or perhaps, its just big tits and a shag.

Yeah, that's probably it.

Never mind.

You can tell from the tone of the article in that British newspaper, that Paul is very beloved in the UK and can do no wrong. They barely mentioned Heather, and only with disdain.
