This morning on "Today" Shirley MacLaine opened up about seeing a UFO "buzzing around the Capitol and the White House" when she was 18-years-old. She also discussed the impact of Dennis Kucinich publicly acknowledging a UFO sighting of his own. Unsurprisingly, she loved it. She seemed to be pretty calm and rational about the whole thing, unlike what most people think of UFO believers.

From NBC 11/7/07.

What do you think? Have you ever had a UFO sighting?

Well, it certainly didn't hurt Kucinich in the Democracy For America (DFA) nationwide poll. The results today show that in the largest poll (150,000 voters) taken by a progressive, grassroots organization, Dennis topped all the Democratic Presidential candidates, including write-in Al Gore. If you go into the data state by state, he was first in most states, and when not first he ran a close second. Where was Hillary? rattling around somewhere in 6th or 7th place. The UFO question has completely vanished from the political landscape. Only the media are trying to keep it alive. Shirley McClaine's interview made them all look stupid.

So if Kucinich says he saw a UFO (unidentified flying object, notice the UNIDENTIFIED), he is a nut job, but all the candidates proudly proclaiming that Jesus is their personal savior and was born of the virgin (!!!!!?) Mary, are supposedly sane? Gimme a break!

How sleazy of HuffPo to ignore Dennis Kucinich's legislative efforts but make sure everybody knows about his friendship with Shirley Maclaine.

Shirley is a lovely human being and if HuffPo is trying to smear Dennis this way it will not work.

Shame, shame, shame, Arianna.

The part of the interview wherein Matt Lauer asked her what she was afraid of her response was wonderful.

She said something like, "when madmen are in charge of democracies."

Meanwhile on another board I saw that Kucinich was interviewed on a different morning show and when again confronted about the UFO issue he stated this zinger, "In Washington DC, truth is an unidentified flying object."

woohoo

What's funny is not that Shirley MacLaine is a goof but that scientists have recently discovered a planet in the green zone of a planetary system--approximatly the same distance from it's star as Earth is. Although the planet is a gas giant scientists are now trying to find a large enough moon orbiting this planet to have water and an atmosphere.

Finding planetary objects around stars is a very recent thing and to find a planet with the possibility of supporting life, albeit on a moon, says that life may be very common in the Universe.

Mock her all you want, we're getting closer and closer to discovering life outside our planetary system.

Kucinich gets Republicans to vote to impeach Cheney yesterday and this is all you got?

What a load of pseudoscientific gobbledygook. Ugh.

Fourteen percent of people have seen objects.
Kucinich is not saying he saw little green men.
He just saw a triangular light in the sky.

Then Mattews asked Obama the softball, do you beleive in life on other planets. Why not ask Kucinich that? The question was specifically phrased in terms of UFOs to make Kucinich either look nuts or call his cousin Shirley a liar.

Hillary calls being asked if illegal should get drivers licenses a gotcha, but the MSM does not
call the Kucinich ambush a gotcha.

NBC belongs to GE, the worlds biggest munitions maker so not wonder they don't like the peace candidates.

Why is it so strange to think there is life outside of our planet? In fact, considering our destructive track record of late, I hope there is because we are certainly doing a botch-up job of existing here. MacClaine is a very bright woman. She seemed completely composed to me in this interview. As for Kucinich, he is a man of truth and vision. Too bad he doesn't get the attention he deserves. We shouldn't be so narrow-minded as to discard their views.

Well, the whole UFO question was meant to do nothing but make Kucinich look like a nut. It was a media hit-job from the start. Less media-promoted candidates like Kucinich get very little time and attention in the debates or anywhere else in the media... and instead of asking a substantive question, Mathews asks about UFOs.

That paired with CNN's refering to Ron Paul's fund raising numbers as a "claim" (when was the last time they said any other candidate "claimed" to have raised a certain amount???) shows that the media is doing everything it can to shortcircuit the candidacies of everyone outside of the few they put forward for us to decide between.
