I don't support these idiots who have spent my entire life cranking out moronic shit that would give retarded monkeys strokes if they had to watch it.

American television sucks in such a way as to have created its own vortex of suckitude and shame that even Eastern Europeans and North Koreans point at and giggle into their free hands in glee because of the utter retardation on display.

So,as far as I'm concerned, everybody associated with this can go to hell!

The last time you guys went out on strike we were flooded with Reality TV Shows.

The reason why I hate Reality TV shows?

Scab Labor for that's all the people are in my book who "act" in them.

Say NO to realty TV, say no to SCAB LABOR.

Writers are the shows, therefore, they should get the bulk of the profits. You can have actors, directors, producers, but without a central idea, a script, you have nothing and they have nothing. You cannot cow tow to corporate pressure. This is more than a paystub issue, more than benefits here. This is about copyright laws. Technically, they re abusing them, when they allow others to dowload writer's work. Without the permission of the writer, nobody has a right to copy, download, ect. That is just basic intellectual property law. As it stands, if you want to get techmical, corporate owes back pay to the writers for this copyright infringement. Legally you writers have a case here. If they want to avoid it, avoid the penalties, ect. Force thier hand. Tell them you will forgo the suit, IF they meet your demands now. If not, I would take them to federal court on copyright infringement. But hey, that is just me, a writer who outsmarted comedy central, what the hell do I know?

Im going to be mad if I don't get The Office tomorrow night. Whoever is doing the bad things need to stop before I finally give up on tv completely and sell it. On a slightly sharper note, TV has become almost passe.

I enjoy the Webisodes, and knowing that they do not get paid for those, I support these guys. Compensate these guys!

Speaking as one of the film technicians who will be laid off due to the strike, I want to say that, yes, I support the writers 100%. This has been a really bad 30 years for labor and anyone who stands up for a contract, for a better contract, is leading a return to a better way of life for all workers. Thank you.

From Today's VARIETY:

Surprisingly robust B.O. from "The Simpsons Movie" and more modest growth in cable network programming sent News Corp.'s operating net up 23% on a 19% spike in revenues in the fiscal first quarter.

Total revenue came in a shade under $7.1 billion for the period ending Sept. 30.

Operating profits in the film segment soared 51% from the year-ago quarter to $362 million, thanks to "Simpsons," "Live Free or Die Hard" and homevid sales of "Eragon," "Night at the Museum" and TV skein "Prison Break."

Give the WGA, SAG and DGA their tiny slice of the growing pie!

Support the writer's strike is all I'm going to say. You bet your bottom dollar, the Producers get paid for DVD and Internet showings.

I guess they are only funny when they are getting paid to be funny.

Thank you for the post. I hope the strike ends soon, but it does give me a chance to catch up on my reading.

The writers are missing an opportunity in their picket signs. They need to use all the great movie quotes written by WGA members. There was an ad campaign a few years ago that did this. From "Of all the gin joints in all the towns in all the world, she walks into mine." to "My Mama always said, 'Life was like a box of chocolates; you never know what you're gonna get.'" . These words will serve to remind the public of the impact a film or TV writer has on culture as well as remind everyone what billion dollar franchises are created for them by these writers. One quote per sign please.

Hollywood moguls take pride in being big shot deal-makers, yet they can't make a deal to share even a thin slice of a growing revenue pie. I guess the moguls are not the big deal-makers we thought they were. Time to start dumping the entertainment stocks because game shows and reality TV don't sell well on DVD at the end of the season like a HEROES or even a poor performer like BIONIC WOMAN so the studio and network cash flow is going to tank. There will be a lot of SELL orders on the floor at the NYSE on Monday if this isn't wrapped up quickly.

why don't the Writers just fire up their own "sites"

hire some actors and directors, shoot some of their own shows and sell their own ad space.

It's hard to pick my favorite promotion of The Office...it might have been the promotion with Phyllis' wedding.
