Iraq Signs

Opposition to the war in Iraq has reached an all-time high, according to the CNN/Opinion Research Corporation Poll released Thursday morning.

Support for the war in Iraq has dropped to 31 percent and the 68 percent who oppose the war is a new record.

Despite the drop in violence in Iraq, only one quarter of Americans believes the U.S. is winning the war. There has been virtually no change in the past month in the number of Americans who believe that things are going badly for the U.S. in the war in Iraq.

The public also opposes U.S. military action against Iran. Sixty-three percent oppose air strikes on Iran, while 73 percent oppose using ground troops as well as air strikes in that country.

Overall, 56 percent, of Americans are dissatisfied with progress in the war on terrorism.

The CNN/Opinion Research Corporation telephone poll of 1,024 American adults was carried out over the weekend. The sampling error for the full sample was plus-or-minus 3 percentage points; some questions were asked of a half sample of approximately 500 respondents and carry a sampling error of plus-or-minus 4.5 percentage point.

We're calling loudly enough, but Congress just doesn't seem to have their hearing aids turned on! Wonder if they'll hear the bombs that drop when Bush takes us into Iran? We're all being penalized for Congress' incompetence.

Einstein said it best: "Two things are infinite: the universe and stupidity; I'm not sure about the universe." This Congress has taken stupidity to a whole new level!

Are you kidding me? These democrats in Congress are the biggest cowards I have ever seen since I have follow politics in the early 60's. I have never seen it before! And I don't expect much from these poeple. You see, they don't want to offend anyone. What jokes!

The success in Iraq is getting harder and harder to hide.

Seriously, how are you jokers going to handle this increasing good news when it starts to be reported?

I think I know. I'll let you know when you start to do it.

THERE is an overwhelming call for immediate withdrawal from Iraq, and people are right to demand Congressional action to that end. However, I see there are a lot of parallels to the acts of the 93rd Congress in bringing Vietnam to an end. It is easy to draw these comparisons without thorough historical context.

Congressional opposition like the 1973 War Powers resolution and the End of the Draft, occurred long after the Tet Offensive that had decisively turned public opinion against the War. It would take the murders at Kent and Jackson State, and the escalation of the War into Cambodia to propel Congress to act. It HELPS that Democrats enjoyed greater majorities in both Chambers in 1973 than they do now.

The point is, let's criticize Congress for what they CAN do, and avoid ill-considered tantrums regarding their unwillingness to pull the troops out. I am NOT an apologist for the Democrats. It's preposterous that a vast majority of Americans disapprove of Congress, and I fault the Democrats for a lot of that flack. However, it is more a failure of public relations than legislation.

The Dems are yielding too much ground to Republicans by taking the 'moral high road' and refusing to engage in the same type of Parliamentary finagling as Republicans. Sometimes, in the context of such a partisan electorate, you just have to fight fire with fire. It's no mistake that Sen. Jim Webb (D-VA) is often paraded around as the face of the party; there is an undeniable parallel to Theodore Roosevelt, and the Dems need the tough-guy image right now.

I CONCLUDE this tirade by calling on you to petition your Congresspeople, but to realize that decisions are not so easily dismissed as pandering to corporate interests or lobbies or whatever. These things definitely play a role, but don't forget that these people must bear the burden of fixing a mess that has MANY implications that will not be resolved by simply pulling troops out. And considering the Democrats' slim majority, withdrawal and impeachment are not viable options anyway.

Blackwater is precisely what Bush's grandfather, Prescott Bush, tried to accomplish when he was part of a group that attempted to overthrow the FDR government. They hoped to employ military veterans - as Blackwater does - to staff a private army that would terrorize the American population in order to stage a coup and install a fascist government.

Watch this:

While the HuffRetards are screaming surrender, the people of Iraq are telling President Bush "God, we love our freedom, thank you sir", and the brave soldiers of "Iraqi Freedom Democracy For All Iraqizoids" are coming back home to brand new homeless shelters; state of the art soup kitchens; world class medical care from places like Mass General, and job offers ranging from CEO's to Bank Presidents.

Suggestion for you traitor libs: Go have sex with yourself.

How nice of CNN to write up a story on the antiwar movement (or at least a poll about it). Unfortunately CNN has refused to cover any of the LIVE protests taking place around the country the last two protest weekends.

CNN has also failed to post any story about the protests after the fact, only linking to other news sources.

I guess they don't have reporters who actually go out into the streets anymore. Either that or Rupert Murdock has bought CNN and hasn't announced it yet. CNN is failing miserably to cover the antiwar movement, and has actively CENSORED any news about it.

I know the Bush/Cheney political machine has threatened media companies with treason if they don't obey the media censorship guidelines, but this is ridiculous.

And now they publish this IMPORTANT POLL, and unlike the Huffington Post who puts this up as the lead story on their homepage, CNN has stuffed this story into their Political Ticker which pretty much guarantees it will be buried in a couple of hours.

I'm so glad the Huffington Post is here to provide some coverage of the antiwar movement, but even the Huffington Post is failing to cover it adequately.

I've suggested to CNN that to make up for their censorship they do an indepth one hour report on the antiwar movement. That is a story that NOBODY is covering anymore...

"Iraq War Opposition At Record High"

Wow ... that means that a lot of people here at HuffPo were WAY ahead of the curve. It never ceases to amaze me the number of shills, trolls, know-nothings and ne'er-do-wells that still haunt these posts hawking for Bush's failed administration and the party-before-country Republicans who propped him up. They must get tired shoveling shit against the tide of truth that every day's news reveals about further malfeasance and incompetence in the Bush administration.

Why do they still come here? Just to be horsewhipped? They've been neo-conned since 1998 and they still think this is the place to post their feeble and already discredited ideas. Denial in the extreme.

Bloody Black Knights littering the path, unable to tell themselves the truth, even with their dying breaths.

Even with poll after poll showing 67-70 percent support of a troop withdrawal from Iraq, the Dems still cave to the Chimp.

Being opposed to invasions, killing and torture, especially of innocent civilians, is unpatriotic. And un-American.

God bless the troops.
