AP:

The Senate confirmed retired judge Michael Mukasey as attorney general Thursday night to replace Alberto Gonzales, who was forced from office in a scandal over his handling of the Justice Department.

Mukasey was confirmed as the nation's 81st attorney general after a sharp debate over his refusal to say whether the waterboarding interrogation technique is torture.

Mukasey should have been waterboarded during his testimony albeit safe in his own conviction that he was not being tortured.

There is no pride in being an American anymore.

It would be more appropriate if in the photo accompanying this piece Mukasey was giving the Nazi salute.

Sieg Heil!!

'American' politics is now the nexus of murder, money, torture, and pro wrestling.

And, lets give our tired play-actor democrats a break. Sure, everyone knows its hard work being the 'decider'...

But, consider the grind endured by the supporting players of our American tableaux vivant. Admire our chaste Democrats' discipline of craft and the dynamic life-like poses against fascism in "The Great Battle for the Soul of America"- matinée shows only.

After the first few hundred performances, even the best must begin to slip and phone it in. Well, so long as the audience is entertained!

Let these dangerous play actors be marked and remembered.

Whether dressed as Democrat or Republican, remember their predatory betrayal of us today, of our country, and of our future.

Because, if they're the theater, who do you suppose is the dinner?

Note on Dual citizenship.

It is better to have loyalty to two nations than to have no loyalty at all.

Personally I have doubt that anyone in the Administration and many in congress have any loyalty at all except to their own personal gain.

To this Congress's everlasting shame. Shumer and Feinstein are dead meat. There should be vigorous challenges to their seats from more principled Democrats in their next elections.

Damned Democrats can not do anything except raise taxes and give federal money to large corporations faster than Republicans can borrow it to do the same with.
What a huge waste of time and money having an election.

How interesting that our Dem candidates who are senators didn't bother to even vote on this! Among the 7 who didn't bother to vote, who do I see but Clinton, Obama, Dodd, and Biden. So nice of them to demonstrate their leadership on a very important issue. They've really convinced me of their great leadership and commitment to a new direction. GRRRRR!!!

The GWB triumvate

Ashcroft "The Patriot Act allows and provides a basis for an exchange of information."

Gonzales "I have fully cooperated with the investigation and before the grand jury, and I'm quite confident at the end of the day that we'll know what facts are in this particular case."

Mukasey “I don’t know what’s involved in the techniques. If waterboarding is torture, torture is not constitutional.”

Good grief.

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Critics of President George W. Bush's handling of the Iraq war are "grossly unfair" and have forgotten the brutality of deposed Iraqi leader Saddam Hussein, Bush's father said in an interview published on Friday.

"Do they want to bring back Saddam Hussein," former President George H. W. Bush said in an interview with USAToday at his presidential library in College Station, Texas.

Hey GHWB, it was imminent attack on the US, not Saddam is not a nice fellow you know, that started this fiasco.

Once again the democrats most suspected of being in the pocket of AIPAC, demonstrate that they are.

The question we need to ask of Senators Clinton, Obama, Dodd and Biden is why not one of them flew back to Washington to personally fillibuster this nomination.

All it takes for a fillibuster is ONE Senator to start.

WHY did they put their aspirations ahead of their duties and not fly back to Washington.

Each of them has access to a private plane and could have flown back to Washington.

WHY DIDN'T THEY?

The words

Lieberman and Independent when used in the same phrase just sound weird.
