The following is excerpted from an Interview of the President by RTL and N-TV, German TV:

Q Do you think there's a point where you'd say only a military option is a possibility for us?

THE PRESIDENT: I would never say that. I would say that we would always try to try diplomacy first. In other words, I -- I've committed our troops into harm's way twice, and it's not a pleasant experience because I understand the consequences firsthand. And so I owe it to the American people to say that I've tried to solve this problem diplomatically. And that's exactly what I intend to do. And I believe we can do it, so long as the world works in concert. And Chancellor Merkel understands the dangers and she wants to solve this issue peacefully.

Q The U.S. has imposed some harsh sanctions on some parts of the Iranian government.

THE PRESIDENT: Yes.

Q The Russians were pretty much against that. Do we see a new rift growing between Russia, on the one hand, and the United States on the other hand?

THE PRESIDENT: No, I don't think so. I mean, look, there's going to be -- there's places where we disagree. No, it's a complicated relationship with Russia.

Q Why that?

THE PRESIDENT: Why is it? Just because we've got a history. It's not easy to eradicate history overnight. You might remember, we were quite antagonistic to each other for years. And so I've tried to work hard with Vladimir Putin to put the Cold War behind us, and focus on a positive future. There are still suspicions about U.S. intentions inside the Russian system.

"and it's not a pleasant experience because I understand the consequences firsthand"

Talk about a "legend in his own mind"!!!

I guess it is possible that he meant that he "understands the consequences" of sending troops into harms way for an illegal war of agression. Meaning that he might actually be aware that the American People, nay, the Entire World, will forever hold him responsible for the thousands of innocents who have died.

We can only hope that the World Court prefers charges, it has become quite obvious we will never see him "brought to justice" in America.

Its interesting what republicans stoop to when they have no real defenses anymore. Which I find strange because our current democratic leaders provide more than enough. Then again, they are doing as republicans, so it would be like eating your own.
Which they do anyway.

He also says in the interview that he thinks Republicans should run on the economy, and that they will win if they do so.

The Bush Presidents are so clueless about money.

Remember Poppy? CLUE-less. Poppy had no idea Americans were, ahem, not doing so well.

The son is like that too.

That happens to third generation rich people.

Or so I have heard :)

Understands the consequences firsthand?

re:demsrnuts, you might be a republican if you lie, steal or cheat your way into public office because honesty will get you no where.

That Bush even has an Iraq shoot 'em-up video game, let alone that he finds time and the inclination to play with it, illustrates what a sick puppy he is.

The Constitution has to be revised to permit Americans to more easily send totally inadequate presidents packing. The electoral college provision should also be trashed as an otherwise obsolete part of the document now that suffrage is universal.

A Parliamentary model would be much more appropriate... one that permits us to have a "no confidence" option long before we have been led to hell in a hand-basket.

No one from the Bush family will ever serve. Being a member the Republican Royal Family has its privleges.

"It's not easy to eradicate history overnight."

It would be so much easier if you didn't have to bother speaking at all, wouldn't it, Dubya?

I know, I know. It's hard work pretending you are the President.

If this puppy pukes, Iraq wont even be an issue, and no amount of tax money is going to help.
Now they say "There's no evidence of an imminent eruption or hydrothermal explosion," but anyone who has taken geology knows that there is no real prediction on when a volcano would erupt. But Yellowstone is about the biggest one in the world. From pacific ocean to Mississippi river shores could be destroyed and years of a blocked out sun.

Yellowstone Is Rising on Swollen "Supervolcano"

Richard A. Lovett
for National Geographic News
November 8, 2007

Yellowstone National Park is rising. Its central region, called the Yellowstone caldera, has been moving upward since mid-2004 at a rate of up to three inches (seven centimeters) a year—more than three times faster than has ever been measured.

The surface is inflating like a bellows due to an infusion of magma about 6 miles (10 kilometers) underground, according to a new study published in tomorrow's issue of the journal Science.

Once again a big Iraq story and no mention of the only candidate who wants to end the war quickly.
Somehow Kucinich does not exist on Huffpo.

He hasn't got a clue. He doesn't understand any of the consequences, first hand or second hand or any hand. If he had, we wouldn't have invaded a sovereign nation that wasn't threatening us. But how do sensible people make a doofus like Bush understand any of this?
