Bhutto House Arrest

The New York Times:

Pakistani police placed opposition leader Benazir Bhutto under house arrest Friday, uncoiling barbed wire in front of her Islamabad villa, and reportedly rounding up thousands of her supporters to block a mass protest against emergency rule.

The United States called for the restrictions on Bhutto to be lifted, saying it was "crucial for Pakistan's future that moderate political forces work together to bring Pakistan back on the path to democracy." A government spokesman promised she would be free by Saturday.

Why Bhutto came home:

However, Bhutto and her husband still face wide-ranging allegations of theft concerning hundreds of millions of dollars of "commissions" on government contracts and tenders. Despite this, a power-sharing deal recently brokered between Bhutto and Musharraf will allow Bhutto access to her Swiss bank accounts containing £740 million ($1.5 Billion). Another one of her prime assets include her 10 bedroom mock Tudor Surrey mansion.[citation needed]

Given her family heritage and name recognition it totally fits the mold humanity is used to and blindly supports without the slightest sense of critical thinking or awareness of their own needs.

New leaders routinely come from the bloodlines of the old leaders - all very insy and controllable. Bush, Kennedy, Bhutto, Ghandi, Clinton as well as the second string of their advisors. Have we really evolved beyond the spirit of entitlement that is monarchy?

Steve Levine, who has covered Pakistan for the Wall Street Journal, the New York Times and Newsweek, says:"What's really going on in Pakistan is a contest between two dictators." His analysis in full: http://oilandglory.com/2007/11/rivalry-of-dictators.html

Has anyone noticed if India is amassing troops on its border with Kashmir? Seems Pakistan will be distraced for a while.

Just Curious.

This is further evidence that the Middle East is neither ready nor willing to embrace democracy. Too bad Bush just doesn't get it.

He recorded this in 1997.

This is all a hoax. Bhuto is in the pocket of the US and isnt the darling of Pakistan. They are artificially positioning her as the 'democratic' alternative to the other US puppet Musharrif.

This is a CIA regime change excersize.

"Defense Secretary Robert Gates, speaking to reporters earlier Friday on his plane en route home from a weeklong visit to Asia, said he was concerned Musharraf's emergency declaration and the protests and arrests that it spawned could affect operations in Afghanistan.

"The concern I have is that the longer the internal problems continue, the more distracted the Pakistani army and security services will be in terms of the internal situation rather than focusing on the terrorist threat in the frontier area," said Gates."

This is a hint at who is actually directing the events in Pakistan.

Robert Gates.
15th Director of Central Intelligence

Figuratively, Americans are also under "house arrest" of misguided neoconservative policies that continue to decimate our emerge around the world and will soon bankrupt our economy. Wellcome to the terrordrome, Bhuto.

What everyone seems to forget is that this whole situation was on the brink of happening in 2001, and that Pakistan and India nearly had a nuclear exchange in 2003. Sep. 11 stalled it, and when Bush made the brilliant decision of making Musharraf (sp?) an ally, Prez. M couldn't turn down the money!!! Now, Prez. M sees everything falling apart in Iraq, the Taliban has set up shop on and just inside his unsecured western border, his army has abandoned that border, Bin Laden is hanging about, and he fears that come 2008 we will lose Bush and the US will pull out of the whole mess. Prez. M is just trying to save his own ass, like he almost had to do in 2001. Bush has now gotten us into a huge pickle, because our "ally" is nuclear armed and has cracked down. Are we going to have to airstrike our "ally"? And by the way, other than not starving his people to death, how is Prez. M that different from Kim Jung Il? They are both dicatators, and they both have threatened their neighbors, and they both have said they will use nukes first. I have said since 99 that Pakistan is dangerous, and after they tested their first nuke, I really said they were dangerous. I wasn't alone in that fear, and sadly, my fears have come to fruition. Also sadly, because we have an intellectual vacuum in the White House, and megolomaniacs running this country, we are about to find ourselves in a shitstorm. Pray for us, somebody.
