Hollywood Reporter:

Writers Guild of America East to Ellen DeGeneres: Don't bother to call on us when you're in the Big Apple.

East Coast writers came out swinging Friday against the talk-show host, who is alone among the talk-variety topliners to return to work during the week-old writers' strike. The writers issued a statement saying that for their part, DeGeneres isn't welcome in New York when she lands in the city to tape "The Ellen DeGeneres Show" on Nov. 19 and 20.

Those lemmings that blindly insist that she be cast into the abyss for her (ahem) affront, clearly know nothing of contract law.

Has anyone noticed that the other unions involved with the show aren't honoring the strike?

Personally, I'm glad that a majority of her staff is still pulling a paycheck.

Apparently her AFTRA contract contains a no-strike clause:

It must be confusing to belong to two different unions, where one says strike, and the other says you can't. Since her show is apparently under AFTRA, I can understand why she's still working.

(That said, I think it's sad that SAG et. al. don't tell their members to honor the picket line. I think that this is an important fight for the writers to win.)

Anyone who crosses a picket line is a piece of shit.
Also any company who advertises on her show should be black balled by all union members in the country

I remember when Ellen was a funny, original stand up comic. Then she had a funny sit-com where she looked like she might become the next Lucille Ball. Although the "coming out" episode was funny and groudbreaking, the show just plain sucked after that. They brought in some stiff to play her girlfriend and the show lost its charm. Amazingly, her once great sit-com became completely devoid of humor. Then she got a daytime talk show -- what a perfect fit. She's charming and funny, great with all kinds of guests. But then one day she decided to go on air and cry about a puppy. For a week. About a puppy. A comedian. Crying. Then the writer's strike starts and she goes on air telling us how she's standing with them even though she's producing new shows. Now she'll probably go on air and tell us how bad she feels that the writers are now mad at her. Crying, of course. Jay Leno is showing re-runs and he's still paying his non-writer staff. He's laying low until the strike blows over. Ellen can certainly afford to do that. But then we couldn't see her hem and haw and weep for the camera, so what would be the point?

A SCAB is A SCAB is A SCAB. She should be blacklisted and boycotted. First I've heard of a SCAB dyke.

I think this says it all:

Outstanding Writing for a Comedy Series

Winner: * "Ellen" (1994) - Ellen DeGeneres (story); Mark Driscoll (I) (teleplay); Dava Savel (teleplay); Tracy Newman (II) (teleplay); Jonathan Stark (I) (teleplay); ABC - For "The Puppy Episode".

Ellen is in a very difficult place. She can be loyal to her staff, but a contract is a contract. For Pete's sake, the woman even did her show from a bed with medics standing by after she injured her back! She is a trouper, and she is the type that, if she could not cross the picket line and, instead, walk it, she would.

Anyone, and I mean ANYONE, who crosses a picket line should be punished. Ellen is lucky this isn't a Teamsters or ILA strike, she would be alot more then just blacklisted....which she should be.
