A top intelligence official says it is time people in the United States changed their definition of privacy.

Privacy no longer can mean anonymity, says Donald Kerr, a deputy director of national intelligence. Instead, it should mean that government and businesses properly safeguards people's private communications and financial information.

Oh no, but wait...didn't Bush and Alberto G say it would not affect our privacy?

Could they have been wrong....yet again?

like they say, you can put lipstick on a pig, and its still a pig. We are not and have never been meant to be a democracy. Call it one all you want, but its not.

I think the title 'Capitalism' is the replacement for Communism, and what the US government calls Democracy is for Dictatorship. What we are heading to is not exactly the same as text book definitions of Communism and Dictatorship, but then again, who are we to live off of text book anything. The constitution says nothing about Democracy in it anywhere, it says Republic, which is not a Democracy even by text book or dictionary terms.
So keep your hands inside to railing at all times, and hold on folks, its going to be a bumpy ride, all down hill!

The way I see it, it is against the law one way or another. For us who scower the internet on a day to day basis, net neutrality is the law. Meaning, what is here, is here and you cannot do anything about it. I hate this because more and more the government tries to seize control of communications just so that they can control it and filter it. The government just continues to fabricate things so that people will believe them, and go forth with in in the name of justice.

One more thing, unlike some Americans, I am not afraid to speak out. If it puts me on their shit list for life, so be it. I am not living in Cuba, China, or any nation that prevents the rights of the people, or thier privacy to be respected. I am an American, living in the USA. You are Americans living in the USA. Until god declares it otherwise, our rights to privacy must prevail.

With the exception of a complete take over, the other most established way of Becoming a dictatorship in an otherwise "free" country is through Fear of being attacked by an enemy. And I have a feeling we are allowing our government to do just that. We allow them to take away our freedoms and privacy out of Fear of Terrorist. We allow them to take away our lively hoods out of Fear of corporations not making enough money, and wanting to make more. So law wages and no freedoms are just around the corner for all but a elite few.
Sounds like the old communist that use to be used for the governments Fear propaganda list.
So long and thanks for all the fish, Its been nice knowing ya America.

I didn't realize I was living in a communist country. The hell of this is that none of this is going to stop terrorism. Nobody is willing to look outside of the box. Invading the privacy of the people, using money on the guises of homeland security, is nothing more than a witch hunt to see who will back corruption, speak out against it, dare to question the president or his policies. Let's get real here. The moment we allowed this to happen the first time, was the day we gave them carte blanche to do as they pleased.
You fight terrorism by thinking like a terrorist, seeing things as they would see them, then using reverse psychology and using thier own methods against them. Its about brains, not spying. Bush and co know this. They are seriously abusing the public, playing on thier fears, justifying this course of action to prolong an illegal war for financial and personal gains. That by definition is grounds for impeachment. Its treason.
In any other country, they would be brought up on charges, tried and punished. In this country, evangelicals who refuse to question him, kiss his behind. Let's get it straight, a really honorable man, religious man, would not abuse his people. Bush isn't religous. He has used the religious right, and they don't even see it. Guys wake up, your rights are at stake here. Its not about abortion, its about a witch hunt for allowing him to continue on this path of destruction. Its not about spying. The day we allow privacy to end, is the day we all are taking turns spitting on every vet who faught and died for us, for our forfathers who signed a bill to allow for life, liberty and the persuit of happiness. Privacy belongs to the people, all of us, protect the hell out of it, or blame yourselves when its gone and you allowed it to happen.

This "Top Intelligence Expert" (an oxymoron come to life based on the drivel he is spouting) is another example of the saying "Repeat a lie loudly and often and make it the truth".

FRANK RICH's NYT Op-Ed comparing the coups of Musharraf and team Bush -- their respective trouncing of constitutional rights -- and the feckless opposition of our effete Democratically led Congress, especially the offensive and blatant capitulation of Feinstein and Schumer on torture, is MUST READ.

Can we please find and support leaders who will not wimply "suffer the slings and arrows of outrageous fortune" -- the menace of Bush/Cheney Republicanism and complicitous Democrats -- but, "by opposing -- OBAMA-like -- end them."

It's time for the old dogs, Feinstein and Schumer, to go. What good are they who refuse to fight for their constituents? Congress and Bush share the bottom-feed of the poles. We, the people, must show our enfranchised resolve to rid ourselves of this menace and vote the bastards out.

Anybody that buys this crap is a stupid. This is no different then what McCarthy tried to do when he went around accusing people of being communists, now they are saying we are all terrorists, same thing, different name. This is BS and this repig knows it. He is worried he cannot spy on anyone he wants too, there is no reason for me to accept or expect my government to snoop into my affairs period.

Government abuse of personal information is a given. We should stand strong on restricting the government from having such information, at the least, without Congressional oversight and and accountability! In the past, that has proven not to be much of a control mechanism but it's better than nothing.
American rights are being diminished by this administration's actions and these actions are being done for the purpose of controlling the lives of Americans, not, as been suggested, to protect America!

Rise up, revolt. Take your country back. Waterboard this asshole.

Sadly, there's nobody left that you can trust. Even the Democrats are selling us out - Feinstein, whom I used to like, is going to give immunity to the Telco's for selling our secrets to the Feds. This comes a week after shoving a new Bush AG down our throats.

Clinton will sell your soul and send your children to die in the desert.

Obama is all wet behind the ears.

Edwards showed me what he was made of four years ago - still smells like fish.

Kuchinich is a buffoon.

Richardson is giving drivers licenses to illegals

I like Biden's experience, but he has no chance.

Screwed again

We want to know what you think. You must believe in our god, don't you? When was the last time you went to church? Who do you associate with? What do you have to hide anyway? Have you ever looked at pornography on the internet? How would you like it if we told your friends and family or maybe your employer? Do you or does anyone you know advocate the use of those so called recreational drugs like marijuana? What are you reading on the internet? - we know what you've checked out from the library... Do you associate with jews, musicians, writers, communists or other unsavory types? If you've done nothing wrong why should you care, anyway?

No, we will NOT say goodbye to privacy.

What we WILL do is get rid of all those fucking bastards who've shit on the constitution, and bury 'em so deep they'll never see political power again.

THAT'S A PROMISE!

Go Look at some history prior to WWII after the Nazi party assumed power in Germany. The German people could not even go to the toilet, with out the Gestapo being aware of it. What is being promoted here in the US. And being approved by sufficiant of our reprisentatives, is another one of the steps toward a totalitarian Government. As many of you are aware, the news media in all venues has already started to fall in line with cherry picked news casting. Watch the current turmoil in Packistan to see our potential future, so long as we are allowed to see or hear about it. Big Brother is in office now, and a new one is standing in the wings waiting to take over in 2008. CONSIDER WHO YOU VOTE FOR IF YOU CARE FOR HONESTY AND FREEDOM !!!!
