AP:

A top intelligence official says it is time people in the United States changed their definition of privacy.

Privacy no longer can mean anonymity, says Donald Kerr, a deputy director of national intelligence. Instead, it should mean that government and businesses properly safeguards people's private communications and financial information.

privacy and anonymity are not one and the same...his argument is flawed.

There's a lot of difference between my calling an internet provider and giving the person who answers the phone my personal information and the government listening in on my private phone conversations. It is idiots like this who are sending our country down the drain.

Are these the same "intelligence" people who swore there were WMDs? The same ones who said we'd get Bin Laden? The same ones who told us about the Nigera yellowcake crap?

Probably the same guy who promised "Mavs in 6".

I think this raises a much larger issue (at least one) than just privacy and I don't think it's very easily answered in any reasonable way. Language is not something that's arbitrarily defined by a government, any government. Language is a covenant between people that describes the world and more-or-less defines how we see it. As long as we all agree what words like privacy and freedom and liberty mean, we can understand each other and can have a meaningful conversation. Even if we don't entirely agree on these terms, our disagreements are usually more about nuance or application of a term rather than essential meaning.

Once you let the government assign definitions of words to suit the government's purpose, you are, in effect, agreeing to see the world whatever way the government decides is right. Any disagreement that you have with the government doesn't mean that the government is breaking the law or even doing anything wrong. It means that you don't really understand the language well enough. That's basically what 'spin' is about. If you sign on to this then the spin becomes the reality. What was that they said about 'creating their own reality'? Well...you're there. Maybe not quite yet, but it is what you're signing on to. Is that what you want?

Loss of privacy works in every direction and in time, the two bit presidents will be monitored by an avatar in a supercomputer...

Everybody will be disposible for the sake of the security of the matrix...

However, it really does not matter, the bipolar architecture of the life on this earth is coming to its end.

So let's follow Kerr's logic a step further.

If privacy doesn't mean anonymity, what exactly does it mean? Does it mean that the govt. has to the right to any and all information it feels like getting under a bogus law? The rationale being if you have nothing to hide then obey? That means that we're no different than China. Which means that all the neocon moron pundits(Lou Dobbs)who get paid millions a year to rant about those evil Communist Chinese really are overpaid morons. But then again all of us sane and normal people already knew that.

I have yet to find a major issue of liberty that can't be deconstructed to the root issue of--

Who owns your body? You, Government, God? Who?

Ponder the social earthquake that will ensue if we are given ownership of ourselves. When American slaves were freed, to whom were they "freed"?

I don't really care what the govt does. I am not hiding anything so why worry.. As long as they don't take IDOL off the TV and Rush off the radio, I am happy. The rest of the world can go to hell.

brewhaha must be a Repub shill. I wonder how much he's getting paid to be a sucker and defend Bush and his Corporate ceos. Yep, brewhaha can't think for himself, can't express an opinion that does not favor the right. Sorry, brewhaha, but you're not wanted here. Go back to Faux News and listen to their crappola.

We here at Huffington Post are serious about how our government is being ruined and we have something to say about it--not just some dribble that you, a little brat, are told to repeat by your "big daddy" Repub leaders. Go home; jump in bed and suck your thumb, dork; and stick your other thumb where the sun don't shine, cause that's what you pitiful, wishy-washy, can't think for themselves because they don't want the neighbors to talk bad about them at the megachurches Repubs are. If you had a brain and started using it you would realize that you are being played, screwed and used by your "leaders" while they laugh all the way to the bank. What a spineless jellyfish you are , brewhaha....

Everyone repeat these words:

Project for the New American Century.

PNAC.

Their website has been up since before 9/11. You can read all about what they intend for the US. Their PDF files have been available for nearly a decade now. Everything in their Manifesto is being checked off one by one.

And the people you and I elected to stop that aren't doing sh*t about it.

Osama bin Laden won.

Bush is his poodle and we're the lambs led to slaughter.

I bet you that you didn't ever think the American Experiment would end like that, did you?

Well, it's over now. How's that for a slap in the face. The US will never be the same.

At least in the good old days, we could put our hands over our mouths when they were watching us. Lets see, how can we combat this.
1-Don't speak, or rather don't vote for any incumbant ever.
2-Don't pass, or rather don't give money to any nominee, again, ever.
3-Don't be seen, or rather, don't ever again go to any incumbants political rally.
4- As soon as the Dem sheep pass FISA with retroactive immunity, stop using the internet, your phone or other means of mass communication. Oh, I forgot, if you have nothing to hide, you have nothing to worry about.
Take a holliday from those things. Oh yeah, by the way, don't use thought transferences, they are working on that technology now.
