Laura Ingraham is guest-hosting on "The View" today, and when talk turned to Iraq, she had some interesting things to say about the success of the American effort. She claimed that "we have...really good news coming out of Baghdad" but "The View" co-hosts and the media more generally prefer to focus on the narrative of the US as a loser. And when challenged, by Barbara, Laura reverted to the age-old conservative tactic of questioning Barbara's patriotism, asking, "Do you want to win in Iraq?"

i'm 63; i could still fight if i chose to. she's younger. she could go. she should go. she's more than willing to make pronouncements while other people die. in fact, she makes money off of those pronouncements. what was that in the devine comedy about the special place in hell and who gets to suffer there? speaking of dante, goto: itunes check out dante's "walk through the streets" on the album lost and drifting inspired by Heller's Catch 22. War mongers like laura should read that book. Short of that, at least listen to the song.

Rather than respond to Laura Ingaham's tired and insipid Republican query "Do you want to win in Iraq?" ask next what America will "win" for it's trillian dollars plus and god knows how many American lives and god knows how many innocent Iraqi lives and god knows how many "enemy combatant lives? Ask will Iraq ever be a true meaningful democracy? A hint might be simply to look at the progress the Iraq government has made toward that end during the respite provided by the "surge". Ask is America safer? Just ask David Howell Petraeus, who testified in congress, an emphatic NO. Even if Iraq becomes the idealised democracy the neocons want, ask if America's influence in the middle east is forever compromised? Ask, does almost everyone hate us? Ask if we have entirely corrupted our moral authority with abu graib, torture, rendition, blackwater's murdering hords, and the compromise of our own constitution irreperably, and not in the name of antiterror but in the name of Bush? Ask, are we now the most effective recruiting tool the "islamofascistspeoplewhowanttokillushere" terrorists have in building their forces. Have you been to the gas station lately? Ask how Pakistan is doing, who by the way is loaded down with nukes and those terrorists I mentioned? Have you been to Europe recently and tried to buy anything, and I mean anything (a pack of gum)with an American greenback? So when that entirely vapid, vile and angry Laura Ingraham asks "Do you want to win in Iraq?" ask her what the hell she's talking about.

Ah Yes! This sweet thing knows what she is talking about... not that she has been to Iraq and saw the situation there first hand.... She has aquired this knowledge via etherial absorption from the fearless leader. The one who talks with God (ALLAH),and babbles in tongues when he is sowing his wisdom to those who kneel down to him. (Particularly if he has no prepared script to read from!) So beleive in this person as she has gained this knowledge from upon high! So mote it be!

Some have noted that Ms. Ingraham is a journalist, successful business woman and cancer survivor. None of these gives Ms. Ingraham expertise on the matter of Iraq. Going to the hospital doesn't make me a doctor any more than going to Iraq makes her an expert on Iraqi foreign policy. I will take the words of General Sanchez and Abizaid over a woman who doesn't have sense enough to take the right wing ring out of her nose when faced with the facts at hand. She and her cohorts always find comfort in the the abstract notion of "winning" and are unable to provide a clear picture of a "win." Simply put they don't have a clue.

The surge was bound to "work" If we place enough troops in a given area violence can be suppressed. So now what is the plan? Do they love us yet? Should we just kill all of them who might attack the troops some day? Where do we go from here? It is like Yogi said "We may be lost but at least we are making good time" I still hear no sense of direction in that there is no real plan that leads to success. There is an unwillingness to address the cause of the insurgency.

Yup, great news. at least 1.2 million innocent Iraqi's are dead and there are more than 2.5 million refugees in surrounding countries (next to none allowed into the US). Both of these numbers indicate unprecedented human rights disasters that cannot be "ethnically cleansed" by the likes of dimwit Laura Ingraham, with claims there's "good news" coming out of Baghdad.

In five years, this President has the ultimate responsibility for far more innocent Iraqi deaths than Saddam was ever responsible for. The 300,000 deaths that have been claimed that Saddam caused, were over a period of more than 23 years. Bloody George has taken four times as many lives in a less than a fourth of the time! That makes his kill ratio just about 18 to 1 over Saddam. That is, for every single innocent Iraqi Saddam killed, Bush has killed 18! That's a truly hellish ratio.

Even if you only believe the Iraq Body Count's super conservative estimate, that as of this writing is at an absolute minimum of 76,701, then Herr Bush is well ahead of Saddam's murder rate. Over the same period of 23+ years, at this rate, Bush will be responsible for close to 400,000 innocent Iraqi deaths. So, no matter how you paint it, or how you spin it, or how you wanna lie about it, this President is the new "improved" Saddam to Iraqis.

New boss...same as the old boss, just a lot bloodier! "Fool me once, shame on — shame on you. Fool me — you can't get fooled again." Saddam W. Bush.

So yahhh, Iraq's better without Saddam...only problem is, Saddam never left, he just got renamed George W. Bush. And this Saddam is way better armed! And the bloodbath continues. So, for all you glass half full neo-convicts, time to hang ten cause surf's up on blood beach.

Would you really expect better judgement from someone who clerked for Clarence Thomas and dated Robert Toricelli. Res ipsa loquitor.

Laura Ingraham states loudly as a self proclaimed patriot that great news is flowing from baghdad and things are turning around. with a heart felt implied patriotism who loves her country but in reality what she doesn't want to discuss is her blind faith in supporting this administrations authority and interests in stealing our liberty, going to war under false information, just to mention a few. but, as she questioned "you want to win in iraq don't you" well laura if you weren't watching when your man landed on the aircraft carrier he proclaimed we won. the problem is from what i learned was that a win/lose situation is not what you should be planning for. sound like you and george attended the management class. in these matter laura to talk for the sake of talking you come off as a fool.

Is there one good looking right wing female propagandists? Next to Ann "the missing link" Coulter, Laura is the most annoying of these right wing fuglies.

okay then let's look at this adventure as a business deal how much will Iraq sell us their oil or will they ask fair market value for it or turn their back on their own citizens and rebuilding their own infrastructure to help the US by giving it to us with deep discounts... you don't know the Arabs very well LOL

Wanting something really badly doesn't mean you'll get it. Unless we'll be staying in Iraq forever, the way I see it is as soon as we leave the Shea controlled Iraq will immediately normalize relations with Iran and with all that oil power and another 10-15 years they'll be unstoppable with ongoing destabilization of their neighbors in the mean time. So ladies and gentlemen as of last count its $650,000,000,000 down the drain. Chalk it down to the best laid plans of mice and idiotic Right Wing Neo-Con Buffoons.
