A day ago, the WGA picket lines weren't crowded, the media attention almost nonexistent. On Tuesday, more than 2,000 strikers turned out at Universal Studios, and television news crews were literally tripping over themselves to cover their protest. The difference? Scores of familiar faces delivered by the Screen Actors Guild.

SAG members representing prominent televisions shows and feature films -- Ben Stiller, Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Minnie Driver and Zach Braff among them -- transformed the picket lines into a high-profile media circus, bringing both visibility and solidarity to the labor dispute.

The more they walk to picket lines, the less chance they have to make bad TV shows. No great loss.

sorry...but there's still something unsettling about seeing multi-multi-millionaires walking around holding picket signs...This could never happen outside of Hollywood, where up is down and night is day..The great traditions and struggles of labor's history in this country somehow seem not necessarily betrayed, but perhaps belittled by the presence of representatives from the richest class in America emulating Joe Hill..It's certainly no Woody Guthrie song....

I agree that this strike is indicative of a bigger problem. The gap between the have and the have nots just keeps getting wider all the time. If the economy is so great, then how come there are so many consolidate your debt and call this 800 number ads?

And the sad part is, losing tons of money, your house and other things is necessary before you have actual change.

I wish I could be walking the picket lines with them! I had never realized that so much I enjoy on the web provides no pay for those responsible, especially things like The Office webisodes! That's saying the writers don't matter but, as this strike proves, they matter a great deal!

If the clips shown in the video ("Damning Evidence in Their Own Words") were only the product of Hollywood bigwigs, many of us could easily dismiss this unfortunate strike as if it were of no concern, but this strike is truely symptomatic of something much bigger. It is a snapshot of what is terribly wrong about our economy, indeed with our couontry.

Over the past 27 years, we have systematically transferred incredible amounts of money and power from the middle working class to the wealthy leisure class. Work is no longer valued in America, at least not by the power brokers. Rather, the accumulation of wealth in great quantities, without a thought of who it hurts, that is revered. So sad!

I will watch this strike with hope. May the writers go forward and prevail. It will be one small, but significant step towards bringing pride back to the wroking men and women of America.
