Imus Takes Pay Cut, Accepts 21-Second Delay To Get Back On Airwaves

"I think I've had some history of defending friends of mine that have been in uncomfortable circumstances," said James Carville. "I defend the speaker, not the speech. If there's no redemption, what are we here for?"

Mr. Carville, speaking by phone to The Observer on Monday, was referring to his former boss, President Clinton, but also to another public figure undone by his own indiscipline: Don Imus, the irreverent, sensitive, occasionally boorish, and strangely compelling radio talker who in April was fired from CBS for referring to the Rutgers women's basketball team as--remember 2007?--"nappy-headed ho's."

Yes, he said a bad thing, and was totally contrite about it. And he's paid the price...so it's time to move on. The locker room banter was something I could have always done without, but he was on WFAN, which was a sports station, so locker room banter was appropriate.
The authors, political punditry and social causes (Vet treatment at Walter Reed and elsewhere), and great music are what I miss.

welcome back to imus. He is a decent man. Good morning joe I can't watch most of the time and think he is a moron. In the past people have clamored to be on Imus' show. I think they will again. I agree with Carvel, "if there is no redemption, why are we here?" Imus asked for forgiveness, what more can he do? good grief!!! He has alot to offer in the way of exposing alot of hypocrits. He also can admit when he has been wrong, something many "folks" can't.

My wife and I can't wait to have Imus back on. I was just going to get the webcast from WABC until I heard he would be on RFD-TV. That will be the end of that self-absorbed, preening Scab-orough, Mika, and Tucker's Butt-boy. Imus is entertaining because he has broad interests and non-traditional views: He's not easy to categorize. I disagree with him on a number of issues and he pisses me off sometimes, but every time he calls Cheney a war-criminal, it makes it all worth it.

I love Sharpton and his wit, but his attraction to the limelight frequently gets him into trouble as well. Nevertheless there should be room for both on TV. Otherwise TV would be just reruns of the Brady Bunch and Ozzie and Harriet.

he is what he is... a cranky old man ... he paid not only for that last ho remark but for all the nasty bulling stuff hes pulled over the years... i watched him ...for the guests... but often had to turn off the tv when that McGirk thing started to talk .. i certianly wont go to any trouble to see him again...and if these people who went on his show go on again i think it will hurt them...
