The TV writers' strike is costing David Letterman and Jay Leno more than $100,000 a night each.

Because the late-night stars have stayed off the job since the walkout began last week, CBS and NBC have stopped paying them, according to TV-industry sources who asked not to be identified and are close to both hosts.

Such hatred.
Such class warfare.
Such incredible envy and distaste for those who have money.
This website is such an incredible viewhole into the underbelly of angry, miserable, hateful, venom-spewing internet monkeys.

So what it's costing them 100 g's per night. Does anybody here in the real world even know what the hell that means? It's lint on my navel to these guys. So they'll probably pay 4 mil in income tax instead of 5. Who gives a flying F?!!

My hat is off to anyone who stands up and supports fair wages and pay. It is guts, leadership and common sense.

These yokels who seek to divide Americans at every possible opportunity, like rich/poor, war/anti-war, democrat/republican, male/female, blue collar/white collar, seem to feel their contrariness is some form of higher intelligence and principle rather than the sophmoric hate mongering viruses that they are.
But, maybe they have their purpose, as do maggots.

I read lots of jealous antipathy above. Dave and Jay are rich, to be sure. They got there because of their talents, good timing, and sure, good luck.

That they would support the writers shows that they are not greedy and selfish, and says how important they think the writers are to their own shows.

Unions are essential to a thriving middleclass which in turn is essential to a healthy, functioning democracy.

Anti Union? Anti-America, I say.

They should pull a Reagan and fire all the writers. Most of the jokes are dumbass clichés anyway. Surely there's better comedy writers out there.

Is there like a little Union(R) stamp at the top
of each page? What happens when they have to
start coming up with their own material,
cancellations? How hard can it be to come up
with 20 minutes of lame jokes and a music act?
I'd say that they could stand to economize, by
the sound of it...hire 2 writers at 100k each
per year, or 4 at 50k/yr, and get the job done.

Gee, I hope they won't go hungry or have to live in their car or worse a cardboard box..

Golly! Maybe if Leno and Letterman could struggle by on say $50,000 a night, there'd be enough money left to pay the writers what they deserve. No more strike.

Fuck Leno. He pays independent joke writers $75 per joke and says it's OK because they are for his nightclub act. Then he uses them on his show. Letterman is funnier and more politically aware.

This means nothing because Leno lives off his standup money. And Letterman has been making $3 million a month for how many years now? Compared to what the rank and file WGA members are dealing with, it's almost an insult to even meintion these two.

It is truly too bad that these guys can't write their own jokes. Perhaps we should have them swap places. Put the writers on the tube with the jokes they write.

What dolt wrote that headline? They aren't getting paid. That ain't the same thing as Leno and Letterman paying 100,000 grand a night in fines.

Leno doesn't even touch his NBC money, he lives off of his numerous stand-up performances. This really won't affect him at all.
