Lou Dobbs

Lou Dobbs for President? Don't laugh. After months of telling reporters that he "absolutely" would not consider leaving his highly-rated CNN show in which he crusades against free trade and illegal immigration, Mr. Dobbs posted a commentary on his Web site last week predicting a surprise new presidential candidate in 2008. The mystery candidate is an "independent populist . . . who understands the genius of this country lies in the hearts and minds of its people and not in the prerogatives and power of its elites."

Friends of Mr. Dobbs say he is seriously contemplating a race for the first time, although it's still unlikely. They spin a scenario under which the acerbic commentator would parachute into the race if Michael Bloomberg, the New York billionaire and favorite of East Coast elites, enters the field as an independent. With Hillary Clinton continuing to score badly in polls in the categories of honesty and integrity, and with the public's many doubts about Rudy Giuliani and other GOP contenders, Mr. Bloomberg may well see an opportunity to roil the political waters by entering the race late. If so, Mr. Dobbs then sees a niche for a "fourth-party" candidate who could paint the three other contenders as completely out of touch.

This would be wonderful news. Lou Dobbs would siphon off enough of the lunatic xenophobe vote to prevent a Republican victory.

Run, Lou, run!

Really? Well, obviously there is always more room in the neocon, er, uh, ... I mean, 'Republican Party' for even MORE hot air & old fat-headed windbags who know what is best for us just enough to save us from ourselves. For them, it's all one big shiny-happy tent!

LOL

Run Lou, ... run!

I really doubt this story is true.

Lou knows what a mudfight politics is and he enjoys stirring things up but I don't think he's ever going to run and one does have to wonder who started this story.

Still, he'd make a better prez than any of the idiots currently running except for Edwards.

Go for it Lou! Dobbs/Paul/Kucinich, not necessarily in that order, new day in america
and whatnot. Get some fresh faces/voices a
little more audible up there, not just a
6-year-long Exxon infomercial etc...

Oh pleeeze! He should just continue contemplating his bung-hole. Much more productive.

Colbert did this routine already -- and he's alot funnier and more substantive than Lou Dobbs.

Here's one Democrat that hopes Hagel and/or Bloomberg and/or Dobbs will run as an independent. Then, if the Democratic Party is dumb enough to nominate the "flak"-ignorant, Empty-Suit, Rezko-partner-in-crime BO or the double-talking, two-faced Conniving Calculating Clinton (with more than 50% "disapproval") - in any combination - I'll have an alternative for my vote. I'll bet millions will join me.

..."independent populist . . . who understands the genius of this country lies in the hearts and minds of its people and not in the prerogatives and power of its elites."...

Yeah, right. There are so many elite hands shoved up his ass that he can barely walk

Great.
Rudy is a one issue candidate with 9/11 tourettes.
We all know what Dobb's sole issue is.
It might sell him some books but at the end of the day, he's just another talking head that found an issue to exploit....
