I Like ItI Don’t Like It
Lou Dobbs

Lou Dobbs for President? Don't laugh. After months of telling reporters that he "absolutely" would not consider leaving his highly-rated CNN show in which he crusades against free trade and illegal immigration, Mr. Dobbs posted a commentary on his Web site last week predicting a surprise new presidential candidate in 2008. The mystery candidate is an "independent populist . . . who understands the genius of this country lies in the hearts and minds of its people and not in the prerogatives and power of its elites."

Friends of Mr. Dobbs say he is seriously contemplating a race for the first time, although it's still unlikely. They spin a scenario under which the acerbic commentator would parachute into the race if Michael Bloomberg, the New York billionaire and favorite of East Coast elites, enters the field as an independent. With Hillary Clinton continuing to score badly in polls in the categories of honesty and integrity, and with the public's many doubts about Rudy Giuliani and other GOP contenders, Mr. Bloomberg may well see an opportunity to roil the political waters by entering the race late. If so, Mr. Dobbs then sees a niche for a "fourth-party" candidate who could paint the three other contenders as completely out of touch.

Lou is married to a Latino for gods sakes, how bigoted is that? People call him racist because he speaks out on ILLEGAL immigration. That's someone here from any country, not just Mexico and Central America. It just so happens that 90% of ILLEGAL immigration comes from south of the border.

Lou is not against the individuals looking for a better life, he's pro immigration as long as it is legal and the people coming in are willing to become Americans.

His main message is against greedy corporations with a love of cheap labor. These greedy corps need to be held responsible for lowering standard of living for everyone by paying these ILLEGAL workers unfairly low wages and therefore depriving Americans and legal immigrants of jobs. There is no such thing as a job an American is not willing to do, just pay them a fair wage.

I'd vote for Lou Dobbs without a seconds hesitation. Listen to what he actually has to say as opposed to the what others with an agenda purport his message to be.

Old "one note Lou?" Is this for REAL?!?!? Don't make me laugh!!!! BUWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

This guy is a one-note, race-baiting Republican. He'd be buried in a general election!

Oh, by the way, in 2004, our household received a very slick, expensively produced piece of political mail. It was from Lou Dobbs. And guess what? He was urging us to vote FOR GEORGE BUSH!

This guy is a freakin' Republican of the first stripe! Populist, my ass!

Then, after spending at least millions on mailing out his slick "Vote For George" junk mail, Lou has the gall, bad taste, and instinct for muckraking to spend the next 4 years on his program monomaniacally obsessing over illegal immigration! Gee, Lou, did your boy Georgie step up to the plate on illegal immigration?!?

Gimme a break. This guy is a friggin' LOSER and a rank Republican!

The devil may be in the details but he'd probably have my vote. And for those that think he'd only take votes from the GOP, you haven't been following local politics. Many many democrats are seriously disillusioned with the results of 2006, Reid, Pelosi, and they are tired of the nepotism that brought us GWB and threatens to bring us Clinton and another presidency tearing this country apart by the colors of our party.

A president with the power and willingness to force a crackdown on illegals would actually force Congress to deal with these issues instead of just ignoring it and letting the fallout of inaction rain down on the middle class.

There are over a billion people in the world in desperate poverty -- and plenty more dealing with barbaric conditions and injustices. Why are we expected to let them all in with open borders?

I don't mind legalizing many of the illegals, giving out work visas is our economy needs foreign workers, granting citizenship to those that have been here for long periods of time. We dropped the ball, and there is a price to pay for that. But it can't be an open invitation to the rest of the world, announcing that if you get here and hide long enough, you're welcome to live here.

But the borders need to be secured, we need to know who we are allowing into this country.

The federal government needs to financially re compensate those local governments who are trying to deal with increased costs of jailing, schooling, housing, and providing medical treatment to illegals.

GO LOU DOBBS!!

I believe he takes from Democrats and Republicans. Immigration is an important issue no doubt. If it's sprikled with a little humanity. You know, the "What would Jesus do" stuff. And stopped talking about them as if they were dogs. I'll listen.

His free trade stance is hated by the money side of the Republican Party. You know, the corporations that pay 10 cents to a 8 year old in China who makes Barbies. However, I'm a card carrying union member who has actually benefitted by free trade. I'm a longshoreman. But I do no that my brothers in other unions and workes in general who have lost good paying jobs, from this lopsided agreement. Free trade needs to be a two way street. What we have currently is a "Free Trade Imbalance". Way more is coming in than going out. Whiles people work like slaves so we can wear cool sneakers.

And what's Lou's stance on gay marriage, abortion, and stem cell research? Hmmm, He might have to say a few things about that. The alleged "Value Party" will need to know. Let's talk about a few other topics on the minds of the political right.

I do not know which party would benefit from Dobbs ruuning as an Independant. Nader ran to boost his EGO and caused the Supreme Court to appoint Bush as president, possibly the greatest Disaster in American history. Dobbs will NOT WIN but he could cause the Republican candidate to win. The consequences of that could be catastrophic. If that happened, I believe Dobbs would be reviled. He should stay where he is. There, sometimes his commentaries have a positive influece on government actions and society.

Lou Dobbs has never said a word against legal immigration. He is married to a Mexican American. Do you ever think about low wage American citizens who have to compete with hoards of powerless illegals. Liberals are between a rock and a hard place on this issue if they think about it at all.

I wouldn't vote for him because of his attitude toward Venezuela and Chavez.

I think we need a third-party candidate to stir the pot in the debates like Ross Perot did. He had no chance of winning, but he was instrumental in focusing the other parties on the dangers of a huge national deficit.

I think if Lou could focus on the dangers of so-called "free trade", and the war on the middle-class, and not just illegal immigration, he *might* bring some value to the debate.

The difference now is that the corporate media would be unlikely to let him get his message out the way that Ross Perot did in the early 90's.
