Reuters reports this afternoon:

Democrats who lead Congress likened President George W. Bush on Thursday to a bully on Iraq war policy and vowed to spend no more on combat without a deadline for bringing U.S. troops home.

"He damn sure is not entitled to having this money given to him just with a blank check," Sen. Harry Reid, the Democrats' Senate leader, told reporters.

"Americans need someone fighting for them taking on this bully we have in the White House," he said.

Reid and other Democrats, who hold slim majorities in both houses of Congress, accused Bush of wanting a free-flow of hundreds of billions of dollars for the Iraq war, all the while being tight-fisted on the home front.

"Every dollar we spend in Iraq comes at the expense of people in America," Reid said.

Also, Reid is threatening to "keep the Senate in session until Sunday in order to vote on a $50 billion stopgap-spending bill for the Iraq War that also would call for a significant drawdown of U.S. troops in Iraq by the end of next year."

"We'll either do it the easy way or the hard way. It's up to the Republicans," Reid said. "We will have a Sunday vote scheduled. ... If they want to give us consent to have a vote earlier, we'll do that. But if they don't, we're not only going to be here, we're going to be here working."

Reid said he would file a motion to limit debate, or invoke cloture, on the House-passed bill on Friday. If Republicans insist on using all the time available to them to debate the cloture motion, the vote would occur Sunday.

Reid also hinted that he would schedule a series of quorum call votes to make sure Senators stay in town through Sunday for the vote.

"There will be some votes," Reid said. "If people think they can leave town and avoid missing votes, they can't. There will be votes during the day [this weekend]. I have the right to call those votes and I will do that."

You have little to fear, in terms of actual action, from any of these men and women, for you will see none.

Why?

Go read the Impeachment clause again, very carefully. There are TWO "high crimes" expressly mentioned there: (1) treason, and (2) bribery.

Ahh, bribery.

Every single member of Congress receives, pro rata, at least $160,000 PER PERSON, PER DAY, in bribes ... whether euphemistically called "campaign contributions" or not.

Consequently, they have all been very-effectively blackmailed: "bluster and blow all you want, but if you actually TRY to lift a finger against me, I'll tell the world everything I know."

Or, as folks these days put it: "I PWN YOU."

And so they do. Exactly as 'Ike' Eisenhower predicted.

Neocons do not want to fund the war, or they would put it in the budget and find a way to pay for it. No, the necons want to break America up into profit units that suck up governmnt funds for their friend. The rest of you citzens are on your own. Good luck.

If the criminals Bush and Cheney are not entitled to a blank check, you do you Democrats keep on funding the illegal war?

If the Democrats are really serious about ending the US occupation of a country that did us no harm, why are the candidates who gave Bush the power to invade it ahead in the polls and Kucinich, who voted against it, in dead last?

Bush has spent $1.5 trillion to eliminate Iraq's weapons of mass destruction. I shudder to think how much he might have spent if any of them had actually existed.

What ever happened to those republican senators, Specter and Warner, for example that said, during the big showdown in late summer, they had better see some results in three months or else? They were specifically referring to the Iraqi government getting its act together. How many Americans have died since then while these Bush loyalists and apoligists have taken a "wait and see" attitude?

Talk is cheap! War is expensive! It doesn't seem to matter how many civilians or troops are dying, just as long as the oil keeps flowing, the blood and tears are of no real concern to the warmongers. Next we shall have to endure the emotional blackmail stories, all those thousands of civilians being laid off, and the troops getting only one slice of turkey, not two, this year, all because those tight fisted Democrats won't allow George to to play more of those violent war games! The truth is, when you find yourself standing in a deep hole, and you want to climb out, the best thing you can do, is stop digging!

I am so sick of the "tought rhetoric" from Reid and Pelosi. How about doing something to back up your words. I don't even want to know what kind of NO break the senate is having over Thanksgiving holidays to void recess appointments. They must have given themselves extra pay in order to get through it. I am so sick of the lot of them.

Save your breath to cool your porridge...

(1) It's not a binding resolution anyway, and you know it.

(2) The President has never had any of these powers to begin with; you merely find it politically expedient to pretend that he does so that you can wring your hands -- and point the finger of blame towards ANYONE but ...

... Yourself.

You are the ones who, having Impeachment power, will not use it because you are afraid of what just might come out in the trial. You won't impeach anyone. As long as there's someone ELSE that you can divert the public's attention to...

... why, then, your voting records speak volumes. "thomas.loc.gov" tells all.

Wake up America. The rulers (Bushco) of this country will never leave Iraq. They are building military bases and the largest American consolate in history there as I write this. Their mission is to conquer and hold the middle east to support our oil consumption. The Bush family has been rapeing the worlds resources for years.
Google: Prescott Bush
This is whats going to happen.
A nuke will be exploded in Bagdad killing thousands of American soldiers. It will be blamed on Iran. Bushco will declare marshell law. Suspend the elections in the interest of national security. Bush will get the public support he received after 911 and become the richest man in the world. Blackwater will secure the White House for the Bush family and kill many demostrators during the protests.
The walking dead of America will let this happen. We will be bombbarded with non reality TV and fall fast asleep. Say goobye to America folks. WWIII is inevitable.
The new "Dawn of the Dead".
