I don't get it. There's all this rancor about Lou Dobbs among people who consider themselves liberals or lefties, yet his positions are more of a threat to corporatists, Republicans, and the entrenched lobbyist-controlled Washington political elite. He is a nationalist, no doubt, but more to the point, he is a populist who is trying move our government back toward policies that serve the voters and away from serving special interests. I don't see what the Left has to fear from any of that?

Illegal immigration fails almost every test of the social contract that made America great. These immigrants cannot vote, they cannot organize for higher wages, they cannot even lobby for better working conditions. They can lower the wages of American citizens. They can degrade social services and schools by exerting a burden greater than their contribution to taxes. And, in the absence of any workable border controls, they will forever be losing their jobs to the next wave of immigrants, legal or not.

This is all music to the ears of corporations, the casino owners who support Harry Reid and the agri-business magnates who finance Mitch McConnell. That's why Comprehensive Immigration Reform is such a battle cry for them. Don't think that they ever shed a tear for the poor struggling worker, American or otherwise. The path to citizenship they claim to offer is too expensive and too convoluted for most illegals, so their future is "work and keep your mouth shut". How does any of this strengthen the worker? How does any of this raise the American standard of living?
How do trade agreements like NAFTA that put Mexican farmers out of work and force them to move Norte serve American interests? These are the questions that Lou Dobbs has been asking, in a rising voice. I think people who claim to feel concern for worker's rights should ask themselves the same questions.

As an immediate family member of two cancer survivors, I have great sympathy for what Ms. Roberts is going through. Our thoughts and prayers go out to Ms. Roberts & family.

No to Lou Dobbs. If he can't figure out that the corporations want to hire cheap labor than he is not bright enough to be the president. Dobbs cannot blame poor people from Mexico from wanting to better themselves and their families when American companies will hire them. Would you want to raise your family in a cardboard box? That is real poverty in Mexico. I would be doing my best to get here too particularly if someone was hiring. Who is at fault for that, tell me?

Well, great! If Lou Dobbs runs, and the James Dobson gets some Evangelical featherweight to run independently, so many votes will be ciphoned off the Republican tally, that the Pugs will carry three states.

And, really, that's what the Republican Party really needs - to get kicked hard, right in the nads. They need to get so beat up in the election that they will be back in the Wilderness they occupied in the '60's.

These racist, holier than thou, phoney, criminal blowhards need to get their clocks cleaned at the polls. So, by all means, you fat, smarmy blowhard - RUN Lou, RUN!!!!

Why all the posts are about Dobbs ?

It is about Roberts, one class act, not Dobbs.

Dobbs is an arrogant hate-mongering blowhard! I assume he'll run as a Republican! Saddest part is, he'd probably get elected on his single issue "Hate the Immigrants" platform. Americans sure love their hate! Well, his hatred isn't solely directed at the immigrants. He hates the Russians. And he hates the Chinese. And he hates the Mexicans. And he hates just about everyone and everything that isn't a rich white American male. He likes to champion the "Middle Class", but only if they're rich and white, and born in the U.S.A. Lou Dobbs is a repugnant, divisive hate-mongering blowhard. One can only hope that America is looking for more in a President than a smug, belligerent talking head from CNN, the propaganda channel.

Lou's got my vote if Hillary is the nominee.

Grandstanding right-wing nationalist. He doesn't even bother disguising himself as a centrist, he just calls himself one and assumes "that's that." No way.

Well actually I just don't like Lou Dobbs. He holds a position similar to Tancredo which is, in fact, a rightwing racist position. You somehow come to the conclusion that I hold a corporatist position - on the contrary. I recognize that many of the causes of the increase in undocumented workers are because the corporations, wanting cheap labor, hire them. Many undocumented workers are here because of the abyssmal failure of US trade agreements such as the Caribbean Basin Agreements, maquiladora projects and ultimately NAFTA. These agreements put no restrictions on companies who moved to places like Mexico with regard to labor rights or environmental protection. The result - corporations abused the system, failed to pay living wages and destroyed the environment. American unions, being stopped at the border, were helpless in fighting the corporate power. Many of the Mexicans who emigrated to the US did so because corporations, politicians and newsmen like Lou Dobbs continue to push free trade agreements and not fair trade agreements. Somehow both Tancredo and Dobbs place too much of the blame on the immigrants and not on the other factors mentioned above. They insist that a ridiculous fence be built between the US and Mexico as if this can stop the migration of people desparate for work. Please respond to this because I'm going over my word allotment.

Dobbs is so passionate, he would certainly care.
I am all for it - go Lou! And give them illegals a run for their money, and special interest, and everything else that his wrong with this country!

.
Here's one Democrat that hopes Hagel and/or Bloomberg and/or Dobbs will run as an independent. Then, if the Democratic Party is dumb enough to nominate the "flak"-ignorant, Empty-Suit, Rezko-partner-in-crime BO or the double-talking Conniving Calculating Clinton (with more than 50% "disapproval") - in any combination - I'll have an alternative for my vote. I'll bet millions will join me.

Wow. What courage that must have taken for Ms. Roberts to expose that. I hope the women who are mentioned in the story that won't do chemo due to the potential for hair loss will change their minds after seeing this.

Ms. Roberts, thank you for making "your mess your message". Here's to a quick and full recovery. God Bless.

He's an Independent but more a dem than republican, which is good... All who watch him know his views... He understands the economy; he's tough on border security, illegal immigration and amnesty; he's against this wasteful war in Iraq although he seems to support military intervention in Iran; he's deeply concerned about the shrinking earnings power of the middle class; he is repulsed by the lobbyists influence on our legislative process... Hey! He's for everything I am (except the drumbeating relative to Iran)! WE COULD DO WORSE THAN DOBBS! I'd consider him as a viable candidate at this point in time. Go LOU!

What happened to all the other comments? They were all erased! They showed most people supported Lou Dobbs in such a bid. Furthermore it was suggested he call his party the Buffaloes, since they were not going to be fooled into supporting special interests that had an anit-American agenda.

No wonder they support him. After all, how can the Chinese worker, subserving the Communist empireal state, compete with the American worker who believes in freedom, liberty, and justice ?
