Former Sen. John Edwards, who ran for president in 2004 with an unfailingly upbeat campaign and then joined the ticket of his party's nominee, has come back this year with a fighting edge - an edge which Sen. Hillary Clinton of New York has likened to "mudslinging... right out of the Republican playbook.''

"I don't think so,'' Edwards said of the complaint which Clinton lodged about his criticism for her in the debate of the Democrat candidates in Las Vegas last week. "The idea that that this is mudslinging... We're talking about substantive issues of war,'' Edwards said on CBS News' Face the Nation today. "If anybody, including Sen. Clinton, thinks this is mudslinging - this is milquetoast, compared to what we're going to see next fall.''

Read about Democratic Majority Leader Steny Hoyer criticizing the "acrimonious" tone of debate between the Democratic candidates, citing Obama in particular .

When Senator Clinton accused Senator Edwards
of "mudslinging," he should have said, I am
NOT slinging mud, I am stating the FACTS about
your voting record, your ever changing answers
to the same question, your taking money from
lobbyists, your decision to vote for Bush &
Cheney's next adventure into IRAN.
Senator Clinton talks about being "comfortable
in the kitchen," - apparently NOT because if
you call her our on her record, actions,
flip-flopping, lying, she calls it "mudslinging." Each day she becomes more and
more like George Bush. I hope Senator Edwards
does not cave and that he does NOT listen to
the media that tells him, he needs to be
softer. He needs to fight, keep calling her
on her record. He is 1000% correct the system
is rigged. And when people call him a trial
lawyer, he needs to tell them, he is the one
who was fighting and winning for the little
guy. That's a fact. And he should ask the
question of Clinton and the Media - calling
someone on their record, their votes, their
flip-flopping, her ever changing answers, that
is NOT MUDSLINGING - THAT IS STATING THE
FACTS, THE TRUTH.

The three junior Senators want to run against each other and not against Joe Biden - here's the match up

Senator Obama 2years vs Joe Biden 35 years.
Former Senator Edwards - 6 years vs Joe Biden's 35 years (Edwards spent 2 of the 6 years running for President and the last 5 years running for President)
Hillary Clinton - 8 years against Joe Biden's 35 years.

What laws has Obama gotten passed in Congress???? None. What laws have Edwards gotten passed in Congress???? None. Why do we want to elect the least experienced who can't get one single piece of legistlation passed into law as President? If they couldn't do this as Senators why would they being able to take their dreams and put it into law as President???????

Joe Biden can be like Lyndon Johnson - able to pass historical legislation into law -overturn the awful legistlation passed since Bush has been in office. No one, No one else can do that.

Plus, on a world stage do you really want Obama or Edwards meeting with world leaders???? Or would you rather have Joe Biden????

Time for this immature narcistic rage between Obama Edwards to stop fake attacking Hillary. Meanwhile Pakistan is a mess, so is Iraq, and we have no relationship with Iran - We need a responsible Senator like Joe Biden to be the person the media focuses on. Voters of Iowa and New Hampshire - wake up!

Notice the halo above Hillary's head in the picture on the left. The similarities between Clinton's and Bush's media campaign treatment is getting just too similar. Clearly the Corporate press has picked their candidate.

I dont believe any candidate that says

Elect me for a better America.

The first one that says I am running for my own ego, I will believe.

I guess the party loyalists would vote for Adolph
Hitler if he was on the democratic line of the ballot.

BTW Ed Klein wrote a book
The Truth About Hillary: What She Knew, When She Knew It, and How Far She'll Go to Become President

Now Media Matters, Kos and other blogs have attacked Klein and made his life miserable. Hillary did to Ed Klein exactly what Bush did to David Brock when he wrote "Blinded by the Right"

Here is one of many Hillblog attacks from Media
Matters

I'm sick of Democrats arguing that somehow disagreement is not a democratic value. Somehow, this is what Republicans do. What a complete load of crap. This is exactly what primaries are about and to argue differently is not to understand the history of politics. It is the arguing against dissent which is an anti-Democratic value. We are supposed to be supporting the right to dissent, not fighting against it. Let the other side do that. Hillary is just the corporate front-runner. OF COURSE they are ripping her down (and rightly so - if times were decent she wouldn't even be getting consideration as a Democrat.)

The stifling of argument is a corporate ideal, and if recently the Republican candidate has been chosen earlier than the Democratic candidate it is because they have received the more meaningful corporate dollars.

As always - follow the money. Hillary's (and her followers) contention that criticism is defeatist is as dumb as anything I've heard from this moronic administration.

Okay, if we say that mudslinging is a malicious attack to discredit an opponent, and if Edwards by pointing out that Hillary is taking corporate money, is mudslinging, then all the candidates are slinging mud. My problem with the term mudslinging, Hillary slung something alright, but it wasn't mud. It something else that comes from a bull's ass...

But, she wouldn't be so wimpy, so I can only guess she must have been talking about the Republican candidates, 'cause I didn't notice any mudslinging from her fellow Democrats.

Hey. I've got a great idea. LET'S NOMINATE BILL's WIFE FOR PRESIDENT!!!??? oh, I know, I know she's not qualifed, but neither was Bush. But just like him, she's got family and corporate connections that can get her elected.

And hey, she's a WOMAN!!! What a great gimick. Unique. And if people question her qualifications, she can claim the evil men are ganging up on her, or slinging mud.

This will be great. And Hillary will be every bit as effective as other "token" women in leadership roles:

Secretary of State Condi Rice who slept through September 11th, lied us into Iraq, and has helped to keep us there;

Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi, who promised to get us out of Iraq as soon as her Armani-clad photo shoots are over;

Senator and former First Lady Hillary Clinton, who voted for war in Iraq (and Iran), fumbled Healthcare reform so badly it took 15 years to revive it, and who wink wink looked the other way too many times and Bill got impeaced...

OOPS... maybe Hillary isn't a good precedent for Hillary.

Anyway: Bill's Wife for President in 2008... no really, really.

Hillary would have been fine if she had stopped at the notion that the other candidates are going after her because she is ahead, that's an undisputable fact that cannot be denied or refuted, but once she went as far as to charge mudslinging she opened herself up to backlash.

Edwards and Obama have been very respectful in both content and tone when challenging Hillary on policy and character differences, now they have the opportunity to raise a concern around the idea that if she can't handle child's play, then how is she going to withstand actual enemy fire.

Sorry guys but the time of politics has ended. On the GOP side (Ron Paul) as on the Dem side (Edwards, Gravel, Dodd, Kucinich! ) it is time to call things for what they are.

You have all let the christian fanatics impose on you what you can see and say, and go as far as let ridiculous crap like intelligent design come to schools.

You can call this polpulist politics or negative, but this happens when people and constitutions have been abused over and over, and the Media aren't doing their job at exposing it.

Edwards makes very specific promises that he will have to live up to, and he seems to be upfront and honest about it. Cinton and Obama, although they both would do a great job as well... (after Bush even a first grader can do better) are too political and play games.

Remember all of you, Edwards is the only one who wants to abolish the Lobbying and special interests in DC, and if you havent noticed it yet, that is the cancer of our nation.

Stop makine money talk and empower the people by getting them more involved.

Tony Benn is both wise and correct in his views on Empire. We Americans need to listen more carefully to this man!
"As a minister, I experienced the power of industrialists and bankers to get their way by use of the crudest form of economic pressure, even blackmail, against a Labour Government. Compared to this, the pressure brought to bear in industrial disputes is minuscule. This power was revealed even more clearly in 1976 when the IMF secured cuts in our public expenditure. These lessons led me to the conclusion that the UK is only superficially governed by MPs and the voters who elect them."
We in America are controlled by the same system as Britain. Industrialist and corporations control the direction of both the Democratic and Republican parties. The American political scene is nothing more than musical chairs in which political celebrities switch seats and policies in support of the needs of the American people are left behind.
If ever there was a time for Americans to reflect deeply upon the road to empire it's leadership has taken, it's now. Take back your government!

What is really important, is Edwards hair cut, Hillary's laugh, Giuliani borrowing a private Jet and Ru Pauls head on phony money.

Lets forget about.

Preemptive war
Outing covert agents
Lying attorney Generals
FISA
War on Terror
War on Drugs.
Brewing Iran campaign.
Media consolidation
National debt.
Sub prime crisis.
Tumbling dollar.
habeas Corpus.
Gitmo
Torture
etc etc etc.

Dammit who wasn't wearing a flag pin?

That thar is treason!

It's a damn good thing that being stupid isn't contagious. It may very well be congenital though, because it seems to be the overwhelming condition of the American electorate. A voting public that can't even be moved by matters of life and death because it's not their own, or so they think. What's even worse is the number of people who seem to be PROUD of being so goddamn dumb. By this point in the process, it should be obvious to anything that has the power of self awareness that the first order of business ought to be to clean house of each and EVERY politician who is owned by lobbyists, and install those who actually do work for their true employers. But then, we are so fucking lazy that we have willingly pissed away our right to have votes counted accurately, so what's the difference in the end anyway? We're gonna wind up with whoever the rich say we are going to have, and that will be that.

Business as usual will continue after January, 2009, soldiers will continue dying in Iraq for the sake of the rich, and the poor in this country will continue dying for lack of health care, shelter and jobs in this country for the sake of the rich. Because as we all now, they just aren't fucking rich enough.

Hell, we ought to just let each candidate have a rotating shift as prez for all the damn difference it's going to make. Then we can all stay home on election day like most people will anyway.

This is the Clinton people trying to frame all discourse. Good for Edwards for calling it what is was. Hillary doesn't like to be challenged. If she is this thin skinned, she has no business being a candidate!

Hillary is doomed. If the Dems nominate her, our next president will be a Republican. That's all there is to it. The primaries are just heating up a little and she's complaining about being picked on. What's she gonna say next September when the Republicans dig up all the dirt from Whitewater, from troopergate, from Monica, etc., then mix that with 100-octane vitriol and smear it all over her stupid campaign? The very idea that she could be the next president is the most ridiculous thing coming out of the DLC in YEARS!

Better to nominate JFK and let him run from the grave. At least he wasn't married to Bill Clinton.
