The tentpoles of Comedy Central have recorded ratings declines in the first two weeks of the writers' strike.

Both "The Daily Show with Jon Stewart" and "The Colbert Report" with Stephen Colbert were forced into repeats on Nov. 5. Since then, in the demographic of viewers ages 25-to-54, "The Daily Show" is down 35 percent and "The Colbert Report" is down 28 percent versus the prior fourth quarter average.

Why is a dumb blog like this one even on Huffpo? There aren't very many venues for honest, intelligent, and dare I say, comedic, discourse on current events.

The Daily Show and Cobert Show will lose audience share when the GOP dog and pony show gets kicked out of town. Until then, they are guarenteed a devoted following.

I think TDS and TCR have a both faithful and smart audience. We watched the shows the first time and we don't need to see them again. When the strike is over, we'll be all back. Hungry.

Of course not, Comedy Central will have to replace them both with the Carrot Top Comedy Hour.
