Citing 'Outsider' Status, Huckabee Becomes First Candidate To Respond to McClellan Book

Mcclellan Lies

First Posted: 03/28/08 03:45 AM ET Updated: 05/25/11 01:20 PM ET

This evening on Hardball, Republican presidential hopeful Mike Huckabee became the first presidential candidate to make a public statement on former White House Press Secretary Scott McClellan's admission that he had "passed along false information" intended to "exonerate" Karl Rove and Scooter Libby in l'affaire Plame.

Huckabee: "It's stunning. It's one of those moments where I'm glad to not be a Washington insider...they are serious allegations but we don't know whether they're true...they deserve to be thoroughly investigated and the truth brought to the American people."

Of course, Huckabee's response was something of a fait accompli, seeing as how the prior discussion on Hardball centered on how Huckabee could use the McClellan announcement to highlight the fact that he wasn't a "Washington insider."

For the love of pete. I have to keep saying this. No mention of Dennis Kucinich here. He's the only one among the official prez contenders that doesn't need to go through this "I'm shocked", mock indignation nonsense. He's already proposed impeachment before the House. Let's see where it goes now.

I have had enough with "serious Bible people". I do not trust them, I do not like them, and I do not want them running my government. It turns out that the "serious Bible people" currently in charge are just as fond of lying, thieving, and killing as are the non-believers amongst us. I will throw my lot in with the non-believers, who aren't nearly as cynical or self-righteous in their outlook. And to all the clowns who hold that history is going to be kind to Bush (the Medveds, the Kristols, etc.), just what the f*ck is supposed to turn the table for Bush, when we all look back in twenty years? Where is the parallel universe that holds facts which are sympathetic to him? How is all this sh*t going to turn to gold for him?

"We don't know whether it's true . . . " says Huckabee. Maybe he's waiting for God to whisper it in his ear. Or maybe he's going to look it up in Galatians.

Mr. Huckabee,

what's really stunning is you having the guts to claim you're something different than your party of corrupt criminals.

It's STUNNING that this administration still hovers in the 30% approval range despite the warmongering and deceit, not to mention the constant domestic and international bungling.

It's STUNNING that, despite having every decent card in their hands, the Dems in Congress and the Senate cannot/will not do the right thing by voting on articles of impeachment and censuring the ones of "their own" who continue to defy the will of the people.

Will the latest "revelation" from McClellan have any impact at all? My guess is no. We'll jaw over it for a while just like we did with O'Neill and Clarke then forget all about it.

Stunning? Are you kidding me? Where has Huckabee been in the past six years?

It's stunning to no one that Bush & Company lied to the country. What is stunning is that someone in the administration has shown an ounce of remorse.

Mike Huckabee must be the only person in the United States surprised by this. Why are we pretending that no one knew Bush/Cheney lied through their teeth on revealing Plame's name -- something they would have impeached Bill Clinton for doing.

I'll only begin to have faith in this nation again when the entire Bush organized crime family is behind bars.

Seven years of abuses, confessions, whistleblowing and expose`s have utterly failed to change the direction of this government toward tyranny and financial ruin.

And as usual, the Democrats cowardly approach to leadership has only aided and abetted these criminals.

WAKE UP AMERICA! You've been sleeping for the last six and a half years. Meanwhile, you "sheeple" have been gulping down the "koolaide" Rove concocted, and you can't tell what is real and not. Citizens of this country are fed up with redneck trailer trash pushing us all off the cliff. November '08 will be a Republican bloodbath
like never before.
Burn in hell, assholes.

What would Jesus do?

People who are serious Bible people, like Huckabee, think God does not approve of lying. It is likely that Huckabee would NOT lie, if he were president. Those who ridicule his believing in God might consider this.
Yes, a lot of politicians are hypocrite believers, but I think he is probably not.

Each generation in which we move away from a Judeo-Christian culture means less belief in the moral base on which we were founded. We make do, for a generation or two, with the residual effect of our earlier moral foundation. Finally we may run out.

Which is never to condone those who put up a false Judeo-Christian facade to garner votes and power. These, as any Bible-reader knows, are the Pharisees and Scribes, the hypocrites whom Jesus condemned above all of his contemporaries.

Read again the parable of the Good Samaritan; read it for the first time if you have not heard of it because of its forcible removal from your cultural milieu.
